how long should i veg for with this light

i am vegging 4 plants all purple mendo and i am wondering how big i should let them get before i start flowering i don't know if there males or females yet so i don't know how many plants i will flower but im going to be useing a 400watt hps grow light the one from HTG supply along with a fwe CFl's or a tube of flourescent light so i was wondering how big i should let them get before flowering i just want atleast 1ounce
 
o with the 400watt hps grow light system from HTG supply if i baught a seperate hps light could that system hold a 600watt light?
 
no, do not put a 600watt bulb in a 400watt hps ballast.

most people veg them until they reach 12 inches tall, or have 4-8 nodes. then set 12/12, keep in mind they will double to triple in size the first 2-3weeks of flowering.
 
that is fine if they grow 12inches tall will i atleast get a half ounce out of a plant cuzz i just need atleast a ounce
 
you can grow tem as tall as space ,time and your desire wants too

so say u veg them longer over the 12" and let them grow say to 24 inches so from there u can just stick them to a 12/12 phase so they can start 2 flower.? if I want my plant bigger just keep the phase up " veg " till whenever ?
 
i veg for about 3 to 5 weeks and get up to 3 1/2-4 foot plants
there are as many different ways as there are growers
veg for about 3 weeks
