How long in the curing process before the smell starts to return (on average)

well i snipped a lower branch, way immature, but i just had to test it out

after drying its lost its awesome smell

so when does your guys' cured weed start to smell awesome again

well if you took it from an immature plant the smell wont be as strong. When the bud cures in jars, the most common method, it holds in a lot of the smell which to some extent gives the bud its flavor and taste when smoked. The smell reaches its peak in a fully mature plant though, so you just have to be patient.

no the plant is mature, its pretty much tomorrow i chop her, the bud i picked was immature because it was at the bottom of the plant.

my plant is mature and smells great, but i know that as it dries it will lose its smell,

hence the question about how long before smell and taste come back when curing
so the question still stands

about how long does it take before the smell starts coming back

well in my experience the smell never leaves. It reaches its maximum potency right before harvesting, and then it may be slightly less noticeable during the drying process...but it never leaves completely. The curing process can only help retain what smell there already is, it doesn't "bring the smell back"

Ok it's pretty easy to understand your question. This depends on several factors. What you are refering to, I assume, is the cut grass smell that overpowers the more succulent aromas as a bud dries. Depending on the strain, how well it yellowed during the flush, it could be anywhere from 5 to 15 days of jar cure for most weed. Some longer, much longer. The breakdown of chlorophyl is what needs to occur to allow the finer odors and flavors to shine through. The smell is always there, like stated above, but other, less desirable smells overpower it. I have stuff in jars going on 5 days and the lawn smell is just dissipating and letting fruit come out.

If you want to check the bud for smell, roll and squeeze it between your thumb and finger and release some of the essential oils from the bud. Then smell your finger.... the smell is there, just being overpowered by the releasing chlorophyll. I find that after 2 weeks the strain I grow loses the cut grass smell and becomes nice smelling again.

growing some bag seed, shit almost smells like ozone... then after about 2 weeks it smells like paint thinner. Compared to the bag i got it from, it blows a hole through my head.

i havent harvested my whole crop yet
i just picked off a small lower branch that is now maybe .5

dried it normally

During jar curing a 30 day cure the chlorophyll smell lasts a week to 10 days. It is almost done when the grass smell dissipates.
Dried weed without curing hardly smells like more than grass unless you rub it and release some poly phenols or turpenes.

you have to leech your plants of nutes before harvest, sweat em for a week, than burp and jar em for a month. Thats how you get your taste, quality and high. Theyre all hand in hand

everyone does, its a fresh bud with live resin glands, ofcourse its stinky and sticky. That doesnt have anything to do with the quality of bud

I know it doesnt have anything to do with quality, it has to do with weed not needing to be cured to smell good, which was the discussion

I’m here looking for answers to what I’m thinking is a similar question. Basically wanting to make sure the strong, overwhelming planty, grass smell I’m getting isn’t just that ammonia smell I’m suppose to be worried about. Making sure that it’s normal. Everyone I talk to just goes on about how literally everything else but never diving into the initial nasty smell a day or so into jarring lol It’s my first crop and they’re officially jarred (40 hours maybe) and that smell when I burp them is just trash. Even. Just compared to when I was trimming.
