My tap water has a high PH 8.5 and a zero ppm. I have been letting is sit out in the open about 12-24 hours before I PH and add it to my 5 gallon dwc. What is the standard time for chlorine to be gone? I hear anything from a couple hours to a day?

i always use a air pump and stones in mine for 24 hours prior to use i water buy hand so i fill my bucket let stand with airstone bubbling away till next day then i use it re fill and start again for next day but i let stand for 24h might be overkill but thats my way

0 PPM isn't possible. Chlorine will dissipate as you're expecting. Chloramine won't dissipate nearly as quickly. It depends on what your municipality uses.

sodium thiosulfate will remove chloramines.... but id rather tangle with 24-48 hours of letting my water sit honestly.

check your meters...

If you are pulling 8.5 n 0ppm, you are pulling thru a 5-stage filter.... or a still....

If you are filtered, you will need to add back cal-mag thats been stripped out...

If you are running 100-300ish from the tap, municipal water, throw an airstone in it, let it bubble 24-48hrs, and ur good.....

My ppm meter says zero ppm, with just the plain tap water. I have a decent blue lab brand ppm and ph pen set. The only time I get a ppm reading is of I start adding things to the water. Why is 0 ppm impossible?
