How long can you hang the whole plant?

So my plants aren't maturing as quickly as I had hoped they would and I will be going out of town for 10 days in a couple of weeks. If I can harvest by Wednesday then I should be able to get 2 weeks of curing in before I leave, but honestly I think they could go until the 1st or 2nd of this next month. If they go that long then I will not have adequate time to cure(leaving the 13th).

I had read on THCfarmer forum about people harvesting the whole plant and letting it hang at ~70° and 50%RH for weeks to months at a time. Some even say it can hang in these conditions for a year.

Because of this I'm thinking I should wait to harvest, uproot the plant, and hang whole until I get back(approximately 3 weeks). Will this be ok? Any tips to keeping my environment at the right RH?

If you can keep the RH above 50%, I'd say that hanging the plant with all of the foliage intact should slow down drying enough that you should be able to get it done. It'll be a bit crispy but I'd rather have mature flower than not.

My thinking exactly on letting it finish. I also am weary of trying to rush the drying or curing process. Slowing everything down I think is the safest option.

I do live in the south and I am a little worried about high RH while I'm gone though recently its been at about 35% in my house. If I keep a fan running and make sure the branches aren't touching though I should be safe in case of short RH spike yeah? Grow room got to about 80% on a super foggy day in week six but it didn't seem to cause any adverse affects. Its been around 40% for most of late flower.

Otherwise I plan to have a humidifier with controller set to 55%. Am I on the right track here? This is my first grow and things have gone so great I don't want to mess it up now haha

Nah man,I would chop them on the 2nd. At around 35-45 humidity if you WET trim they will be dry in 3-5 days max. Jar them and at that point you are looking at having them in jars for around a week before you leave. This is plenty of time to stabilize the RH in the jars to allow you to let them sit. When you get back, crack one of those bitches and smile. I hung mine for exactly 4 days before jarring at that humidity, 35-45%.
2nd - Harvest
2-3rd Hang
7th - Jar
Continue to manage jars until you leave.
Just advice. Disregard if you disagree.

Nope this is great advice and I had someone just tell me something similar on another site. Thank you because doing it that way sounds like way less of a headache. Cheers man appreciate it!

6 weeks under plastic. You dont need to humidify your entire house just let the plants control the moisture, they have plenty. Water evaporates up, not in all directions.
