How long are people waiting to hear back from Health Canada ?

Lol it would be a first attempt and it would probably go wrong lol.
These are things I have to research now that I know I can get extended weight.
My first batch with BHO was ok. Most people would call it crude but it was ok considering the method I used. I bought 2" OD galvanized pipe 8" long and threaded at both ends. I bought a threaded cap for each end. One cap I drilled 3 large holes. The same pattern as a pepper shaker lid. Then I cut out a circle piece of window screen and fitted it inside the cap with large holes. I screwed that cap onto the pipe. Then I wrapped a coffee filter around the outside of That cap and held it in place with the wife's hair elastic. Fill the pipe with crushed buds. The second cap I chose a drill bit the same size as the stem on the butane can. Drilled only one hole that size in the center. Screw that cap on an blast into the pyrex dish. Double boiler and whip the oil when the bubbles get large and sticky.

I used that BHO tool many times. Later on I bought a honey bee extractor and I found it wasn't as good. Glass or stainless steel would probably have been better than galvanized but I was in my twenties and didn't care lol.

Galvanized pipe was probably the worst material you could have chosen. That's a zinc coating on steel pipe so your BHO as contaminated with all sorts of nasty stuff.

Some of my first forays into BHO was using PVC pipe and that turned out to be a crappy choice as well as many nasty chemicals used to make plastics likely were in my BHO too.

I figured out a way to distill the butane so that I could reuse it and get a lot more pot processed out of those expensive cans of 9x filtered butane rather than just shoot it thru and let it evaporate.

I take zinc every day so I don't have to get up and pee 4x/night but wouldn't want to smoke it. :)

I agree with you, definitely not the best material to build an extraction tool. However, the product was a nice yellow BHO budder though. I have witnessed people make oil that was way worse than the BHO I was making with isopropyl and acetone extraction.

Hell yeah. I used to bust up dried fan leaves and basically boil them in ISO for hours then evap off the ISO. I'd put it in 1cc diabetic syringes and sold it for $10 each back in '82. I wouldn't smoke that crap to save my life now! :D

Make me some of that shit lol. How much do you need for that 40g baseball
I actually added about 10 more grams of kief to that ball as it was too slimey for my liking so it ended up over 50g when I got done. About 4g of kief to every gram of oil. I just mix it in a pyrex pie plate on top of a simmering pot of water.

I have one of those 250ml jars full of kief to make my next batch with so expect around 4oz of that hash. Not the best but have a bunch of pot stashed away in the freezer to make what I call Honey Hash which uses the best BHO as the oil base. I'll be sharing that with my best friends. :)

Have you ever submerged the keif in water and stir to remove the plant matter that floats up to the top? Or run keif through bubble bags?

No but I actually want some of the plant impurities in the kief as it adds bulk to the hash or it would just be like dense oil and would turn into a puddle at room temp. The old Temple Ball hash had plenty of plant bits in it as their quality control department was too high on hash to keep the testing up to par. :)

My finest screen is 180 microns so not bubble quality by any means.

That sounds nice. I am thinking more along the lines of 20g maybe 1 zip.
It would not be overly surprising, the stem itself will not weigh much but you are going to lose 50-75% water weight by the time curing is done not to mention what you are going to lose trimming leaves off.

I remember blasting butane through PVC pipe.pretty sure I wasted alot of good weed with that process not to mention the amount of butane I went through. I've heard of the closed style systems. Do you know of any decent diy on the subject.

I plan to get a couple finer sieves. Mine are ones used in metallurgy to sift milled particles to examine the particle size distribution to know when the milling is complete. Could get a shaker machine and put a stack of them on and let it do the work but the machine is pricey.

It's either buy a couple more of these or get some silk screens in frames.
