How high should the hps be

currently have it 16 inches away with a/c pumping into the closet
it is still 89 degrees in there

I keep my 1000w about 16 inches from the plants but mine is air cooled. Looks like you're going to need more ventilation in that room. You can never have too much ventilation.

Your light seems very high id lower it a few inchs to stop them streching also you will need to let that hot air escape
