Currently im running a 1000watt Metal Halide light and 8 6500k CFLS, Im wondering how low should me light be currently my plants are a week old, if you would like too see pictures i posted them in my 1000watt grow journal...

you can keep the cfls really close, and as for the mh (or with any light) put your hand just above your plant, if its too hot for your hand, its too hot for the girls.

training is easy enough to do - plenty of journals, tuts, and explanations all over the place.
your gently bending the main stem of the plant down and tying it down to the rim of the pot or holdong it down in some way. this promotes outward growth from the stem so the plant can absorb light.

and the same progress can be achieved with a few cfls..seedlings don't require that much light to thrive. just speaking about wasted light and the light bill

thats what im saying my friend. i usually keep my plants under cfl's for the first week.(after its grown its 2nd or 3rd set of leaves which is usually a week) then i place it in my veg room under 1000watts

I use my CFL bulbs until the plants are too large for them. Then I switch to my 1000w. This is usually about 15 days after breaking ground. I never use CFL and a 1000w HID, waste of energy.

Training your plants is when you keep them bent over by use of a weight or tied down with a string, also known as Low Stress Training ( LST ). This can keep the plant from growing too tall and improve yields.

Hmm, so how long do you leave them bent, And whats the best age to do it at ?

you can start training at around 1-2 weeks old or whenever you think its big enough.
the longer you wait ti do it the harder it will be because the stem will be thicker.
you leave the stem held down then for the remainder of the grow - till harvest
