How far away

I have my plant under 5 fluorescent bulbs they are 100 watts each total of 500 watts and each bulb is 1850 lumens for a total of 9250 lumens i was wonderin how far the lights should be from the plant and the plant is 3 inches tall 2 inches wide

As close as you can get them.......probably around 3-6 inches away...

start em at 6". see how warm they get. move accordingly.

500 watts for only 10k lumens? That is TERRIBLY inefficient if true. For example:

500 watts = 19 CFLs for a total of 30400 lumens
400 watts = 1 HPS for a total of 55000 lumens

Also, regular T12 40w flourescents run anywhere from 2400 to 3400 lumens each. I think your numbers might be off, but if they aren't, you might want to consider getting some CFL's or even an HPS to save yourself some money and quadruple your yield.

yeah get some HID lighting. its around the same energy for a lot greater effect. you can even get cheap lighting kits that fit both high pressure sodium(flowering) and metal halide
