I kinda felt like the buds should be bigger...and yes, I know she's a cannabis plant, but thank you for sharing your abundant knowledge Cloudiology!! My current set up is total newbie style. Started with bag seed, miracle Gro potting soil and the light in the top of my closet. Graduated to a 4X4X2 grow box lined with the dull side of aluminum foil with 2 4 ft plant/aquarium fluoros with 2 small fans. I've had issues with too many nutes, too low soil pH. I feed with dyna bloom every other watering. I know I need to upgrade my lighting... But get LOST when in that department of lowes! Any recommendations that would improve my yield for this grow?

what kind of fluoros? too much blue spectrum would be probably it. zoo med flora suns and uvl red suns are pretty good and produce big dank buds. or just go with some cmh ( im anti hps) philips allstart 330w on a 400w mh ballast kicks ass. pulls 334.6 watts at the plug and runs cooler than a 250w hps and has much higher par than a 600w ushio (highest par hps). or led apache tech and area 51 are the best led's

I think they are blue spectrum? I really need to educate myself on lighting because your reply made my head spin!! But I get the point...need better lighting!! Thanks for the input...most appreciated!!

Here's what you need to do. Get at least a 400 watt High Pressure Sodium light with a ballast. Second, you made some noob mistakes. Miracle Gro fucks up your plants and causes A TON of issues, especially with seedlings. There's lots of soil mixes out there, pick a better one, like FoxFarm or Pro mix. Go easy on the nutes. Lastly aluminum foil can cause a sort of light concentration and burn your plants, replace it with some Mylar from Home Depot or wherever.

I'll try that...simple bulb change is a piece of cake. But I JUST read an article on CFL bulbs that said to use 2700K-3000K for flowering...does that not apply to regular fluoros? I checked out the zoo med flora sun and its 5000k...your thought??

every one stop picking on mg soil., shut the fuck up unless you know what your talking about. go to you tube, mg vs hydro see who is winning the yield test , you will be very surprised. mg moisture control does suck but the other is great,

I TOTALLY made some noob mistakes...LMAO...but I'm a work in progress here!! With the HPS lighting would I need to set up exhaust? Don't they produce mass heat? My grow box is in my bedroom closet!! I'm def looking to improve my set up for next grow...I read that smooth white surface was better than Mylar? I already planned to ditch the Reynolds Wrap!! Thanks for your input!!

cfl's are bad due to ouput of uvc. Kelvin ratings is based on heat on the black body radiator scale. Is not true representation of spectrum. flora suns imo are not 5000k. But they are full spectrum and has every wave length for optimal growth. Even wave lengths that hps lacks.
Ive used every soil under the sun. Mg is only good for growing mushrooms. No need to be but hurt due to inexperience. I use prom bx and amend it.

You don't want to change your soil for this grow obviously. Also remember that flower starts when you get your flowers, not when you switch to 12/12. How long ago did you start getting pre-flowers? It can take a couple weeks from flipping to 12-12 so you may only actually be in week 2 of flowering.

You truly just lifted my spirits!! I double checked my journal and the first white hairs started appearing on or around June 23...2 weeks ago!! I do think I should upgrade my lighting still...THANK YOU for your AWESOME input!!!

Check for light leaks. Then double check. Then swap out some of those CFL's (65s for 27s,) and check out Vega and Flaming Ps grows. They both do some nice things with the CFLs
