How does it look

Hi,
I planted this on 6-20-07 and thought I would check with you all to see what you thought about my progress so far. The pics are not all that good but hopefully they show enough. It is also hard to tell how tall it is, but it is around 5.5 inches. TIA.

Could you give some ideas as to what may have caused the stunt if this is the case? How big should it be by now?

I am using 2 flouresecents, 1 white and 1 actinic from an old fishtank hood. The hood is sitting directly on top of the pot. Running 18/6 light cycles. Watering every other day.

yeah it does look stunted. you should get good soil, and a couple of cfl's. you might as well start a couple more and choose the best to continue to grow or grow them all if possible.

How should it look at this point? I am a noob, and I only want enough for personal. What is cfl? I look at the glossary, but must have overlooked it.

OK, I just ran to Slowes and picked up two of the highest wattage cfls I could find, 120's and added that to the current 2-48" floros mentioned above.

Now, what is the possibility of bringing that stunted plant back around with the added light?

I also started the rest of my seeds to germinate, understanding one plant sucks if it happens to be a male. I know this sounds crazy, but 10 plants is just way to many for me if they all happen to be female. Tough predicament to be in I guess .

TIA for any suggestions.

You're totally right dude, growing from seeds is tough because you have no control over the final quantity of females. In my case, I germ'd 8 seeds and turns out that 6 were female. I decided that I could only effectively grow 4 plants to maturity, so I chose my best 4 and have made sure to give them everything they need. As for the other 2 girls, rather than throw them out I decided to keep them on the outskirts of the grow area so they are getting some light but not terribly much. I know they won't end up yielding as much as my primary 4 girls, but hey, better than throwing them out right?

I would suggest figuring out how many plants you can afford to grow to maturity and germing twice that many seeds since the male/female ratio is typically 50/50 on the average (or at least that's the best guess you can make). If you end up with more than you can fit in your grow area, just pick your best girls and either pitch the others, give them to a friend, or do what I did.

Good luck.

Oh never mind now, just came across Jethros stealth setup, all materials will be bought, assembled, and in action tomorrow night.

One last question, is it possible to un-stunt a plant or is stunting permanent?

Give it an ideal environment. Anytime I run into plant problems I alwasy start a new one just in case.

One last question and I will let this thread die. What is largest sized pot I will need? I am going to follow Jethros plan, but outside of that I have never figured out what max size of pot to have a plant in.
