on the big connector put a wire from the green wire to a black one, there are a few that this won't work with and will short it out, so be careful, same thing with the powersupplies that are all one color wire, just look at a wire diagram online

I should take a pic of the old one I have and was going to use...I've got a good general Idea of what to do,I've worked a lot with eletrical.THis is just technical...the plastic connector you plug the power for your cd-rom/hard-drive/......has about four wires per clip...I wanna cut the clip off and use the 12 volt power for some car electronics in my house...

from the 20 pin or 24 pin plug, cut the green wire and one black wire. solder or wirecap fit the green and black wire together. note your powersupply will be voided if you do this. the green wire is a signal cable too the motherboard it tells the powersupply a motherboard is connected.

next plug your fan onto one of the molex connectors. plug in powersupply and switch on. note fan should spin up. if fan spins up your good too go. if fan does not spin up your powersupply could be faulty or be of a newer type.

as for the supplys themselves, a 200w supply will power roughly 4-5 fans maybe more

a 400w supply will power over 10 fans.

do not exceed the stated amps on your 12v lines.

check your pc fans, there are some on the market with small controlers fitted, these allow you to control fan speed, cmf output and noise.

you can see a whole modified version here https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/99581-computer-power-supply-mod-12v.html

Hey thanks for the reply, its been a while,lol...i was messing around with the wires and such and I figured out the power leads.I got the fan spinning without splicing anything I just jammed the wires into the hot/neutral (or so I think they are) and it started spinning....left all the plastic connectors on.I think i've got it figured, maybe not quite the same way as normal but it works.
