How do you solve a Mystery?

I have 4 "free" mystery seeds that were sent as a "bonus". So... what do I have and how do I tell what it is. How do you know if you were sent autos, fems, or regulars? Nothing on the pack other than the identifier "Free". Anyone else been able to solve a mystery like mine in the past?

That's what I am doing now... but... seeing how mainlining an auto isn't recommended, how would you ever know it was an auto? Its kind of fun not knowing what it is but it poses some interesting issues. Not knowing how tall it will get is one of the troubling factors. After this sucker is done, Will I ever really know what it is?

We'll that's part of the intrigue of a mystery, it keeps you wondering. If you have a lot of experience with strains than you will probably be able to narrow down in general what they are.

The best looking autos I have done were mainlined

Don’t worry about strain just grow it and keep it’s height under control by topping etc if it becomes an issue

I've got a bunch of 'mystery' seeds. Ones that got mixed up, dropped, or otherwise became unknown. They're all from seeds that went to market. I've thought about making them packs of freebies, or a contest prize, but I wouldn't invest 3-4 months of limited space into unknown seeds, and don't think others would either.

I write it down on a piece of paper and tie that paper to the leg of a pigeon.
Then I wait.

This. I have quite a few unknowns, and I am simply not motivated to try them. Maybe if plant count was unlimited and I could throw them outside... maybe....

Exactly. A lot of the 'grow experience', I think, is observing the plant strive to meet the expectations you have for it, especially if you're into pursuing potent flavors.
