How do you measure co2 in your grow room?

I had a quick search, but i don't really see how people keep their co2 levels at XXXXppm. Is there some kind of device which measures co2 levels in the air?

Do these devices hook up to your co2 regulator to control the release?

they have ppm meters for co2 but they are kinda pricey for a good one.
