Connect one wire from phone charger to the red fan wire; connect the other one to the black fan wire; if you have a yellow fan wire too, don't do anything with it, just ignore it. Plug in the phone charger...if the fan works, you're good to go; if it doesn't, just unplug it, switch the connections around, plug it back in and it should work.

I don't suppose there are any risks you should have warned them about should they have wired it incorrectly and plug it in...
