The complete opposite is true - plants consume CO2 during day light hours and comsume O2 during dark periods.

You could spend £50 on a CO2 air reader off ebay which will tell you how many PPM Co2 is in the air. Then you can try the cheap methods of producing Co2, record the results and adjust accordingly.
Plants consume Oxygen and Co2 24/7!

Plants give off more co2 than they consume during the dark period compared to the light cycle when they use more co2 than they can produce.
True, but it isnt one way or the other completely respiration is always happening, and o2 and co2 levels are never nill.

+1 for clarification.

would the extraction fans bring down the ppm before it reached optimum levels? i have to run my fan almost constant to avoid heat building up

you can also spray your plant leaves during veg, and the first 4 weeks of flowering with seltzer... make sure theres no salt before spraying...

$10 for a bottle of peroxide is quite spendy i got a large 3% solution of H202 for 1.79
I learned from mr. Green that using club soda as a C02 source in conjunction with compressed cO2 is very effective. I myself spray a 12oz can of club soda everynight as the lights come on. I got 3, 6packs of club soda for 5$ plus dep. I can tell you it works quite well and very cost effective for anyone looking for a quick source of co2 for someone low on cash

My name is Rusty Shackleford and I approve this system..

Co2 is not for beginners and it can kill you.... It can be more expensive than you would think. Tank, regulator, timer, ventilation fan which can run $200 for a good one.... and intake fan, are what is really required to have co2 enrichment be worth while.
You must understand all of these things for it to be worth while. If you are looking to save money or for an easier way, just vent fresh air from outside into the grow area if possible........or you could try this
........ inexpensive CO2 Kit a friend of mine made

1. You will need an empty bottle 2liter or bigger "WITH A CAP"
2. A long piece of aquarium hose long enough to reach from the cap on the bottle to over top of your plant(s).. so be sure u measure how much hose u will need from where your bottle will be sitting.
3. At least 2cups of White Sugar
4. 2 Table Spoons of Bakers Yeast

First start by making a small hole in the cap of the bottle just big enough to put one end of the aquarium hose (or medical hose if you can get it) in and seal it with any type of glue/sealant wait to dry.

Then put 2 cups of sugar into the bottle and fill it up half way with "ROOM TEMP WATER" cant stress that enough if the water is too warm or too cold the yeast will die and not produce CO2.

Add 2 Table spoons of Bakers Yeast and put the cap on the bottle and shake it a little to get the yeast to sink down to the sugar

Place the bottle in grow room and put open end of aquarium hose over your plant... Why you ask? Well most people know CO2 weighs more then O2 so when the bottle starts to bubble the CO2 travels through the hose over your plants and when it comes out the end of the hose the gas falls straight down to your plant... Provided you don't have a fan running or any other types of air circulating devices... Will also work with smaller bottles just use less sugar.

How long will it last before changing water/sugar and yeast?

Is there anyway to tell when it needs changed? or is it best just to change every 2 weeks?

or just get a demijohn
that you make wine in and run the pipe like above, and make wine at the same time, it would last allot longer, let off allot more CO2 and you end up with quite a few liters of wine.... or beer.....

I've been reading around and I've decided to add CO2 bottles to both of my grows... I have a large closet grow, and small AeroGarden stealth grow. I will be adding a bottle setup to each of these.. thank you for the blueprint and +rep

I have found the best co2 comes form people. I fill my wife full of beer and bad chicken wings. When she passes out in her bed i put aquaium hose up her ass and to the plants. The pot grows twice a fast and is much stronger.
The extra yield pays for the wings and beer many times over:hump:
Not to my surprise but I tried it except I get my girlfriend, a few of her friends along with a few of my friends.

I do the same thing as you do except at a much grander scale. I had to actually take a brake from all this because my plants grew 50 feet the first night. Everything pays off when I look at the yield except the cost of the new tubing because people keep SHARTING, especially my freakin girl friend.

For myself I basically have a 500ft long tube attached to my ass going directly to my plant, so i could be walking around my house even gardening outside and all that gas goes to my plants.

Since I have been doing this it doesn't matter what strain I grow, my yields are the max they could possibly be and they all have the same color and smell, which inspired me to name all my production bud to "The Shit."

Note that I don't smoke I only grow, so if anyone thinks that I am just high talking out of my ass, it is not true. all this information is true and I recommend to try it. Better to buy the cheapest beer and frozen bean and cheese burrito. You can also make dipping sauces for your partied with extra yiest so there will be higher gas production.
