Soil is usually buffered to the correct pH. Make sure the water you're putting in is adjusted and you don't have to worry about it.

flush it out with ph'ed water tell it back at 6.0 to 6.5. good luckI know of using d. lime for raising it.. but how do I lower it? Mine is 8.0

You can but PH UP or PH DOWN at a tropical fish/pet store.

I tested the soil right out of the bag.. methinks my soil ph tester is off. I'll purchase a cheap one to compare. Thanks guys.

I've got GH ph tester drops and GH ph down... I haven't tested the run off yet. Just did an actual soil test (ph, n, p, k) and ph is 6.5
