Hello, i want to know what bad seeds( low quality seeds ) are exaclty, the ones that dont crack, or the ones that dont sprout out of the ground, or the ones that just never do anything? thanks kiss-ass

well because if they do crack, one may feel that it is human error that when they translplant them into their medium and dont sprout after that sorry my english is not so good im from german

i wait for the tap root to be about a half inch to an inch long. sometimes i wait until they have shed their seed pod and it is just a root with to cotyledons (first small round leaves). incase you were wondering i germinate in a ziplock bag with moist paper towels. i have better luck this way.

ohhh yea i guess it sucks just dumping them into a glass of distilled water huh? and explain to me what is this tiger stripes you speak of?

he is referring to the seed casing. some are dark brown some light brown, some are mottled (or striped). the stripes have nothing to do with whether the seed is ready or not. if a seed is green or very light brown or even grey they are usually under-developed. dark or mottled seeds are more developed and show higher germination rates.

as for the glass of water, i never pre-soak my seeds. i just fold a paper towel in half then half again. place my seeds inside, run them under tap water long enough to get the paper towel wet, then into a quart ziploc and onto my dvr/cable box. check back in 24-48hrs then i'm in business.
