how do i know when its time to harvest

when i should harvest my plants heres a pic

you need a microscope to look at the trichomes.
they will range from clear to amber.
when roughly 3/4 of the trichs are amber, it is usually ready.
an easier rule of thumb to follow is harvest when 60% of the hairs are red.
how long has it been flowering?
 
They're looking good. You need to start examining the trichs (crystals) under magnification. An old school microscope works great and you can pick them up cheap (ebay - vintage microscopes). Or you can use a 30x loupe or a pocket microscope from Radio Shack. You need to trim off a piece from several places around the plant and look them over to estimate the percentage of trichs that have turned amber. At 25-50% it is ready, so plan your final flush accordingly.

PS Looking at the hairs is not nearly as reliable. Their color change can vary due to other factors and from strain to strain.
 
Bout a month now the buds are not very big it's a bag seed was suprised at how good the buds looked because the buds the seed came from was garbage LOL
