How did this work?

I remember I had this friend and his room was in a basement. hee found a beaner spouting on the floor I guess.(they just threw them everywhere when they found them in bags) anyways he stuck it in some crappy dirt from outside and kept it in a pot in his room under a regular 60 watt light bulb. some how it grew. nice thick stem, no stretching. it even flowered under that light. turned out to be a male so they trashed it.

anyways, how did it do so well in such simple conditions?

Are you sure it was pot? I find it very hard to believe that anyone can grow under those conditions - crappy soil, no feeding, 60W incandescent and no stretching. I need to see pics.
