How come some strains are clone only?

The title says it all,i was wondering how come some strains are clone only.

Because they are 1 in a million phenotypes of a given strain. Freaks of nature. For instance, cheese is just a very unique phenotype of sensi seeds skunk#1. People grew out countless amount of those seeds and that one special plant came out of it.

they take an elite clone and reversed it, commonly with STS. obviously this should develop genetics disorders since a reversed sex plant is not the seeds thana regular seeds with mother & father.

Clone only is because some local grower has a very good cut of his plant so, if you want it you go to him or a club he sells clones to. Club's are the best place to get clone only.

This only works well if the parent is true breeding. Otherwise, even self seeds are a crap shoot.

because you can charge more for clones than seeds. and not everyone can grow your strain, maintaining your competitive advantage. in other words, only you have the good shit and only you decide who gets it.

as much as this sounds good... you can grow way more seeds than you can clones.. .yu can make WAY more seeds than you can clones, so much so that if it were really about profit they would just make seeds.

now it seems MUCH more likely, that because phenotypes can be varied, and VERY rare, that they want to lock down a phenotype in clone form instead of trying to breed it into uniform growth (which is a big risk but if successful an amazing strain is made.)
