I've heard some guys on here doing vertical growing that they can touch the bulb at the bottom without it burning the skin off, don't know how true that is, I aint touching a 600 thats been on for a few hours!!!

Emily.m.grant: recently I read about a way of determining light distance that made a lot of sense. The author said if you put the back of your hand toward the light at the same height as the tops of your plants and it feels warm you're too close. Hope that helps.
