How close is too close??

I have a 400 W hps grow light with a vented hood And tempered , temps stay between 70 and 75 degrees. with lights on. How close can i put the light to the tops without Burning the plants.????? Its a 4x4 tent with a 4 inch exhaust fan and passive intake. Rh is between 35 and 50. Thanks for any input

My 600w hps is about 20 cm away to my canopy. Check the chart I think it will give u an idea

I just do the hand test stick ur hand under the light for 20 seconds if u don't feel any discomfort then neither will ur plant I have a 1000k light stay's about 12 to15 inch's off my tops but u want the light as close as possible without burnin your plant matters on how cool ur hood stays also every 6 inch's u loose a good amount of lumens forget the math off top of my head.

just put your hand over your plant dude if your hand is hot there hot! thats how i do it

With a cooltube(hood) and temps below 80, you could go as close as 5" .
