How can I get the most out of my grow room

I am currently growing in a 7'x2'x8' closet. I only have 6 plants at the moment 4 grand daddy and 2 sour diesel. I use a 400w MH for vegging and a 600w HPS for flowering all in the same closet from the same cooling tube. all I have to do is swap the bulbs and plug the light into a different outlet to switch from MH to HPS. I grow in fox farms soil in 3 gallon pots. The walls are covered in Mylar.
My original plan was to put 14 plants in the room I would double the lighting that I have in there now but I would veg the plants in the room together and then flower them together all from the same closet. Ive been doing some research and read about the SOG or sea of green method and thought about doing that in my closet. I would split the closet up into two 7'x2'x4' rooms one for vegging and one for flowering. I also have a 1'x2'x2' space where I could keep mother plants. What I would like to do would be take clones from the plants that are vegging however because the plants spend very little time vegging when doing SOG if I took clones from the plants right before I put them into flowering the clones would be ready to flower before their mothers were done flowering. So Id assume the best way to go about a SOG would be to have 2 mother plants vegging all the time one grand daddy and one sour diesel.
I also have an aerogarden that im not using at the moment I could possibly keep my mothers in there?

What im trying to ask is what would be the best method of growing to get the most out of a 7'x2'x8' closet? be it SOG or just flower and veg all from the same closet or another option let me hear what you guys think.

Cliffs:
Grow space 7'x2'x8' closet walls covered in Mylar

Equipment I have
400w MH cooling tube fixture
600wHPS cooling tube fixture
Aerogarden
Ac/Dehumidifier
inline fan

What grow method would be most efficient in my allowed space example: SOG

If you can get healthy mothers that produce several clones then SOG with a week veg in an aero system would most likely produce the most bud in the least time.

On the other hand, fewer plants doesn't mean smaller harvest. SCROG with an extra week or two of veg will get about the same yield. I ran perpetual in my cab for four grows in a row, no mothers, taking clones right before flower.

led/T5/400w journal if you want to see. One thing I found out was I can take clones up to two weeks into flower and have them root fine. Two months from cut to flower is a bit much.

I have always heard soil is best for mothers. I say keep that aero garden in the closet unless you use it for clones. IMO you go through the water too fast on decent size plants in one of those.

good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I checked out your journal and after doing a lot of research I dont think SOG is for me at the moment only because im growing in soil and dont want to invest in a hydroponics system until I get a couple of harvests out of my soil op. However looking at you Scrog grow I think im going to do something similar only LST same thing basically just I tie down the plants vs using a screen to hold them down. This way I can still split my closet into 2 rooms stacked on top of each other one for vegging and one for flowering because my plants will stay short. Then before I put the plants into the flowering room ill trim some clones off of them to start in the vegging room.

Cool,

Sounds like a good idea. As you have seen my grows are a combo of both. really the screen is just there to tie to once I get any size at all. The one thing I kept running into is the veg area was a bit short. Taking clones before flower gave me 8 weeks to root/veg them and really they were ready at six. On my current grow I tried taking clones at the second week of flower and it works better. The mother is lower in nitrogen and hasn't quite flipped over yet. My opinion, they actually rooted faster.

My guys are already up to 10" tall but they were easy to tie down. How long did your plants take to finish flowering about 10 weeks? This will be my first attempt at cloning if they root faster ill take your advise on cloning 2 weeks into flowering. Hopefully Ill get it down so that I have a harvest every 8-10 weeks

Yea thats about right, A few times I took them at eight because I was running out of room down there. Still turned out good.

Thats the idea, every two months chop and have small plants ready to flower. Ya know, if you haven't cloned before maybe it would be a good idea to test your skills on a weed from the backyard while you are waiting.

Just thought I would check before I deleted this thread,

Did you do it?
Weeds in your yard this time of year are in flower. It would be good practice.
