Hortilux HPS bulb???

Hey everyone. I'm new to growing and I bought this Apollo Horticulture cool tube setup that came with 2 bulbs. 1 apollo MH bulb that says 4200K for enhanced vegetative growth and 1 HPS bulb 2000K for flowering. Now these bulbs are like $13 so I assume they are garbage. I just ordered a 6500k MH bulb off ebay for better results but I have a question about the HPS. This is the bulb I was thinking of ordering below. HOWEVER it doesn't list what the Kelvin is on the bulb and is says enhanced spectrum. Does that mean there is more blue in it?? or is this a good bulb to get for flowering? Thanks for the advice guys.

Run the cheap bulb and get top end nutes and soil if you are strapped for cash, the bulb that came with it will serve its purpose just fine. Since you are new most of your increased yields will be from not fucking up nutes, water, heat, ph, training, topping, fimming. Worry about all that shit and get the 100$ lamp for your second attempt. Jmho
 
I have all that stuff. The ENTIRE fox farm nut line except the boomerang and flower's kiss which can cause cancer. I have my ph up and down, my ph meter, my ph soil meter, fan, carbon filter, duct, humidity/temp meter, dehumidifier just in case, mylar wrap and molasses. So I think all that with a 400 watt cool tube system on 2 dutch mazar fem plants in a 100 cf closet is gonna do just fine. Just want to make sure I have the right bulbs. Does all my stuff sound like I have everything for a good grow? O and the soil is fox farm ocean. (started in happy frog though) going from solo cup to 1 gallon smart pot then to my 5 gallon smart pot after i guess a month. Thanks!
 
any idea with all that stuff i listed and with the strain i listed what kinds of yields i'll be lookin at???

that is where the not fucking them up comes into play. Less is more when it comes to nutes and water. Are you going to top them, LST, fim, or just leave them be? Is there forced air in your space? Shouldnt have to worry much about heat with a 400w. I would think an ounce or 2 per plant is possible but it depends on you.
 
hey. no i was told not to lst because i only have two indica plants with a 400 watt light in a closet with mylar so i was told that it wouldn't be needed as the light is more than enough to penetrate the canopy to the lower branches. I will top just to ensure they don't get too tall and to increase yield. The closet is 7.5ft tall. Will topping yield more? will they grow two colas to replace the one i guess? i think i have forced air coming in from my basement room into the closet. If i bend down in front of the closet while it's closed and i put my hands down to the floor i feel a very very light sucking of air into the closet from the basement itself. Is that what you mean lol?? I figured the back of my inline fan (which is outside the closet and in my laundry room which is next to the basement room just a different area) would be hot air but it's just a cool feeling air so i guess that's a good thing lol.
 
and i won't have a thermometer/humidity reader till later today when it comes in the mail but i would say it's about 72-75 degrees TOPS in there and it's been running for 14 hours out of the 18 hours so far
 
im on my 2nd grow with the Apollo setup. my first harvest of 7 plants in 3 gal pots was awesome. my 2nd harvest (coming in 2 weeks or less) should yield about 25% more. im growing 6 plants in 5 gal pots this time. I change my bulbs (both veg and flower) after 2 cycles/harvests. since those bulbs worked so well for me so far, why would I want to change things up.

btw, I super crop, lollipop, and FIM all thru veg.

check out the link in my sig below for my grow journal. the beginning is boring, but it gets a lot better as the plants grow and flower.
 
Forced air means a duct from your central air conditioner is in the closet. lst will do the same thing as topping but you stress the plants less and you get to keep the top cola. If your plant gets 4' tall your 400 will not penetrate enough. I am shooting for a finished height of 4-4.5ft and I have a 1000 and I don't think the light is strong enough to reach the bottom.
