So I've been making these for a few older family members this year as a Christmas gift.

I wanted to share my recipe and wanted to know if anybody makes similar things.

Pain Relief / Muscle Relaxation

1 - 300 ML bottle 70% Isopropyl Alcohol
1 Cup Young Eucalyptus Leaves (we have a eucalyptus forest in a family farm, leaves have to be very very young. Older leaves are dark green and kind of long, young leaves are bluer in color and round - the blue ones have the most scent)
1.5 cups Chamomile - I use the entire plant - some people only like the petals/flowers. I put the whole thing in.
2 Sprinkles Cayenne Pepper powder - that's the most accurate measurement I can think of - it's about 2-3 pinches worth, low - if not it will burn too much on the skin...
20 Blueberries -
Vegetable Glycerin and/or Propylene glycol, recommend some PEG as well as it helps keep the mixture more emulsified doesn't have to be shaken as often....- how much on the final presentation.

I put the eucalyptus leaves, chamomile, blueberries (I crush them with my finger before adding) and cayenne pepper into a larger (2 liter I think) glass bottle - pour enough alcohol to cover at least half the material. I shake it for 5 minutes more or less...... once done it finishes a bit of a dark green / almost yellowish color b/c of the chamomile....

Then I pass all of this through a strainer.... and into a pyrex dish kind of like how I do to evaporate a ethanol cannabis concentrate I make... let 1/2 the alcohol evaporate so it concentrates the oils and fragrances further.....

I do 1 Part Glycerin/glycol, 1 part PEG, and 3 parts of the plant infused alcohol mix... ... this ends up not being quite a gel and not quite a liquid... it does need a good shaking every once in a while.....

if you like the 'burn' feeing on your skin you can add more cayenne pepper....

if you like a 'cool' sensation on your skin adding some peppermint could help...

anybody else fed up with 'Bengay' and 'IcyHot' and make their own shit??

Sounds like a nice blend! I just cook up some weed in coconut oil and water, boil (simmer) for an hour. Strain through cheese cloth, let the stuff settle, separate over night, pull the chunk of hardened oil from the top, reheat and add a little beeswax and any scent you wish, pour into containers when hot, done when cooled. Works good for my bursitis. Yours sounds a lot better though.

it doesn't do miracles but it's a nice gift idea and smells nice - especially with the chamomile and eucalyptus.

Here's the reasoning for the ingredients, found on belmarhealt.com and other websites say similar things.

Chamomile tea or oil:
Containing 36 flavonoids that have anti-inflammatory properties, chamomile is a traditional herbal remedy for many ailments, particularly muscle spasms. You can simply massage chamomile essential oil onto sore muscles in order to provide maximum relief from spasms. Chamomile tea is an herbal muscle relaxer too.

Blueberry smoothies:
Get the benefits of this powerful berry in a delicious smoothie. According to a May 2012 study by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, drinking a blueberry smoothie before and after exercise can speed up the recovery of muscles after they’ve been damaged. Blueberries have plenty of antioxidant powers and have been shown to lower stress, inflammation, and what’s called exercise-induced muscle damage, or EIMD. That’s good news for the sporting community and aging seniors.

Hot peppers:
Chili peppers, cayenne peppers, and Tabasco peppers all contain a fiery compound called capsaicin, a noted pain-reliever found in many topical ointments. Cook with these beauties for a bit of heat in soups, stews, and stir-fries.

A study published in the British Journal of Anaethesia reported daily application of low-concentration capsaicin formulations are supported by meta-analyses of numerous studies. Researchers tested a high-concentration capsaicin 8 percent patch (Qutenza™), approved in the EU and U.S. in 2011.

The eucalyptus is just an aromatizer....

Hey Moldy,
Great recipe. Question for you if you don’t mind.

I recently purchased a balm that is 35 ml, and it contains 800 mg of thc. Been looking online to find a recipe that you can calculate the amount of thc that is in the balm. No luck.

Does your recipe have a set amount of thc? If so, how did you calculate it?

Thanks!!!

Wow! That's looks like a good balm. I have no idea how much thc is in mine. I use used vape weed (decarbed) and fresh bud (1/4 oz) that has around 25% cbd (supposedly) w/o decarb. I have added a cbd cream that has campfo in it so it doesn't smell so weedy. It works for my old hands that apparently I abused from 40 years of labor and recreation like fishing, tennis, roping, golfing and guitar playing, oh, rolling joints.

What you described would cost about 40 bucks retail here in NV.

Couple days ago I finally ended up mixing some emu oil and cooked it down with some green coconut oil that was made w chem tangie trim after it was bubbled once. Dunno if it’s a placebo effect but it feels like it’s working.rubbed some on my back and arms but I’ve been smoking a lot this evenin so could be the purple punch, or the dabs, probably a combination of all of it. Ripppppped. And feeling really good:)

Mine is similar: 1 pint 91% isopropyl, 3 tablespoons of cayenne powder, 1 oz bottle of tea tree oil. Put in quart bottle and shake frequently for a few days, strain thru a coffee filter. Put in a spray bottle. Mine is for muscle aches and I like it to burn. I like your addition of PEG, will try that
