hey guys, anyone have any good home remedies for raising and lowering soil pH? need to raise mine a little right now but can't hurt to have them both.

Hey Nugz. 2 tablespoons of white vinegar per gallon of water will lower your pH. Also, some guys mix in hardwood ash from their fireplace with the soil to raise it. Maybe you can also sprinkle a little of that on top of the soil.

Vinegar is acidic. How is that going to raise pH?

The SIMPLE solution is to add dolomite or garden lime to your soil. It will raise low pH and keep it buffered in the correct range. It's also the cheap solution, ~$4 for a 40lb bag at Lowes or HD.

Wet

i've been growing in soil for a few years now and don't even check the ph of the soil as i think people get all worked up over the ph of their soil and it's not really that big of an issue imo..

i know fdd2black , a member on here, who used to grow trees outdoors, said he never even owned a ph meter, and dude used to grow 3 lb trees on the regular... good enough reason for me not to worry about my soils ph..

I think the OP asked for "Home Remedies." Everyone knows about dolmite lime.

Yes, my mistake on the wording of that. Thank you for correcting me.

lemon juice is good too.. not as acidic as vinegar but its cheaper and smells good lol. as for raising it try tap water.. tap water is usually over 7.5 just let it sit out for a day or two

phillipchristian and Kayotick r spot on... Although Ive never had a soil pH problem myself... But, if I did, those would be my go-to mo's... lol Fire! Fire! Beavis, you dumbass.....
