Holy pH!

After seeing all the people saying that pH was important i figured i would check mine.

7.5, holy ions batman!

Add some ph down until you hit 5.5-5.8. Just go a little at a time until you hit those numbers.

Are you in soil, hydro or soilless?

soil, maybe thats why my last plant died a sudden death after 3 weeks into flower, hmmm

In soil you should ph your nutrient mixture to 6.4-6.6. (Vaped's advice is for hydro. For soilless you'd be around 5.8-6.2.).

I doubt feeding 7.1 for 4-6 weeks of veg and 3 weeks of flower would lead to sudden death. I'm surprised it made it that far. It should have had trouble from early on unless your soil is highly acidic.

I recommend tracking your runoff ph. If you start having trouble in mid-flower, I'd suspect salt build up, acidification. Tracking runoff ph and ppm is useful to see a trend leading up to that. (If you really want to get into ph, buy a Control Wizard Accurate 8 ph probe for $60. I have one and it helped me when I struggled with acidic soil -- which turned out to result from over feeding.).

Attached is a chart showing why ph is important. Keep in mind that the soil's ph rises as it dries. If you measure runoff ph (not that it's accurate, just useful to see a trend) and see 6.0, don't be alarmed. It will go to 7.0 as it dries. (That's where a decent probe is useful.).

are you using municipal water? it should be fine. lawn grows fine with a sprinkler. your moms tomatoes grow fine using the hose. don't make it more complicated than it needs to be.

don't worry about pH or pKa values if you're not having deficiency problems.

ph is only one factor, but at least now you're on it! Good deal. Just ph your water and adjust prior to watering your plants. No big deal.
