Voltage Range100-277 VAC 50-60Hz
LEDSamsung LM301H & Deep Red
Flowering Footprint5' x 5' at 12"
Veg Footprint6' x 6' at 24”
System PPF Efficacy2.62 μmol/joule
Total output1584 PPF
DimensionsXX" x XX" x 4"
Recommended Mounting Height10"-24" inches above canopy

Here's the Diablo version:

Specifications
Power60-650 Watts
Voltage Range100-277 VAC 50-60Hz
LEDSamsung LM301H & Deep Red
Flowering Footprint5' x 5' at 12"
Veg Footprint6' x 6' at 24”
System PPF Efficacyxxx μmol/joule
Total outputxxx PPF

Recommended Mounting Height10"-24" inches above canopy

Not sure why ppf efficiency isn't listed, but Steven mentioned on the GML show, it's 2.93 μmol/joule.

Oh shit my bad. Nice on the retirement though!!! How many years you have to work? If I'm 40 how many more years do i have to do this fucking shit for?
Depends on your situation. I retired from the military in 2004, then did 2 years as a pmc. Then went to work in factories. Lost factory job last year and just said fuck it. Cars, house paid for, wife works and she's 10 years younger than me. Im 50 last may. I could work and fatten up 401k, or save, or blow it.... but just enjoying smoking late and sleeping in for now. World is a dumpster fire rite now, best stay below radar.

Any idea when they are supposed to drop this? I'm in the market for two new lights for my two 4x4s.

Ain't were im from.massive unemployment.
Not sure whats true anymore. Out side of hospitality jobs business is booming where i live. I think there is a lot of people aging out of the workforce into retirement and the incoming workers to fill those jobs is zero. How many 18-25 year olds we see on construction sites any more?
To keep this thread worthy if you need a Scorpion light come to Northern California get on a construction crew as a temp and get that money.

According to Steve from HLG per the GML show, The R Spec version will drop first this week or next. They had to redesign the boxes to fit a shipping standard so that each light would not cost over $100 to ship in the lower 48. The Diablo will take a couple more weeks after that due to waiting on supplies from Samsung.

That R Spec is likely the one that is best for tent use unless you are growing at a very high level of co2 and a perfect environment otherwise you’ll just overwhelm the plant.* According to the Gentleman from HLG— Once again, This is coming from the recent GML Youtube video with Steve from HLG but I am paraphrasing what he said, hopefully he will come post here and fill us in on the details. I really am a fan of how he cut these panels to minimize waste, etc. I think I’ll get two of these R specs myself for now for rent use but plan on getting the Diablos when I upgrade to a 12x16 room.

The diablos would be running at .15w per diode, the r-spec would run about .35, this out of max of .6w. my guess is that light depreciation will be worse on an r-spec. Mygrow ran tests on a bunch of lights and found out that they all depreciated more than suggested by data sheet. Data sheet seems to have them tested at .2w and 85C, where as my grow had them tested at around .4w and around 50-60C. So either data sheet is wrong or the wattage thru the diode is really important, maybe even more so than temps. Standard advice ive heard is Tj less than 50C and you should not have to worry much about depreciation.

I wonder what the difference in performance will be compared to the 600 Rspec? Both the Scorpion and Rspec 600 say 60 to 600 watts. These new designs seem to have more heat sync and spread yet both state good to flower a 5x5. Be interesting to see what the new design does on a practical level, especially since I just bought the Rspec, lol. Oh the joy of technology, there is always a new model coming down the pike.

The Gavita 1700e is 1700 PPF, and is only rated for a 4 x 4. I think they are slightly overrating the foot print of the light.

Gavita says the 1700e is a direct replacement for a 1000w HID in a 4 x 4 area. The Hortilux HPS is the most powerful SE-HID at 1600 PPF. Hortilux was also developed spe4cifically for a 4 x 4 area.
The HLG 650R is 60w-610w, and is 1700 PPF, and $1100.

What am I missing?? 650r is more powerful, and costs less???

One can buy a Gavita for $1300.
Gavita is 645w
