WEEK 2 FLOWER
FIRST GROW

okay so need some help from you kind folks...having an issue with runoff ppm...water feed water feed shedual ...feeding at approx 800 ppm but my runoff is coming out way higher ..fed last night at 800 runoff was 1600 plus out of each plant last watering was clean water only..ph is coming out around 6-6.2..I did a flush 3 weeks ago before flower and ppm were slightly higher then going in..in 130 out 210...so figured I had solved the problem...but no each week constantly higher then what I fed...should I flush again? Pics attached..if any more info is needed let me know...hoping it's the smart pots holding onto salts? Experiencing slow growth rate and slight leaf discoloration

Like I said watered last night if a flush is in order then should I wait till they dry or flush it tonight? Also should I flush with 50 percent nutes water since I'm in flower? If it's needed that is..please let me know appreciate any help..kinda frustrating problem20180511_053455.jpg 20180511_053449.jpg

Mix up some feed at 400ppm n flush them out ,
When you water you should have waste water coming out the bottom to help remove salts . If your just giving enough water without run off you’ll build up salts ,

When was the last time you calibrated your meters ?

Calibrate everytime they're used..and 20 percent or more runoff with each watering...do u recommend doing this immediately or waiting till they dry?

I’ll cal once a month or if I notice a different reading then what I think I should have . Every time is very overkill
I’d let the dry out a bit before flushing
More air movement will speed it up,

Overkill for sure but knowing what I'm putting in is what I'm putting in is priceless.

The calibration shouldn't be drifting off in such a short time if their working properly/being stored properly.

If it makes you feel better then go for it. Eventually you should know your equipment & trust it without constantly feeling the need to check it.

I hear what your saying 100 percent..but I'm comfortable like this and the testing solution cost is not an issue at all so really don't see the harm?
The thing I value the most in the world is TIME
I spend a lot of $$$ of things to help free up my time .
That time is better off spent tending to the plants themselves.

I can usually guess with in 50ppm of what the ppm will be when mixing up nutes , comes with experience, so do finding things to save time .

It's a confidence issue, a lot of beginners like calibrating because it's something that's easy to control directly. It really doesn't make a difference (assuming your meter works & isn't widely off each time) but if it makes you feel better & you don't mind wasting the time/money, there's no harm. It's like a safety blanket, use it if needed but try to move past it because it really doesn't do anything.

Yah I have a feeling of where it should be but like now when I have a problem I would be going back to check the equipment anyways..u guys gotta remember this is my first grow frost time using this equipment..I was told to calibrate from a friend so I can consistently diagnose with the correct numbers if a problem arises...I'm sure with time and experience I can avoid testing as much but for now I feel it's best to learn

Just a thought after some reading...if I had a salt buildup would the ph not have a drastic difference? In 5.8 out 6-6.1

Depends on the buffering quality of the soil & how much it' stabilising the pH. Also pH zero water acts funny because water doesn't conduct a charge like normal. So that may also be affecting the pH. There's a lot of variables that come into play so it's a process of elimination. The EC spike combined with burnt leaf margins usually indicate over fertilisation. Did they perk up after the last flush?

Can you post a pic of them in a balanced light, it's hard to tell exactly what's going on when they look purple like that.

What exactly did you do when you flushed & how long was it until the next watering with nutes?

I can but lights don't come on for another 4 hours...when I flushed I just used tap water at 130 ppm and kept watering until the runoff was at around 230...they dried normally 3 or 4 days and I gave them a 750-800 feeding
