HID HELP!

So what the fuck.. I get home today and a few min later my ballast kicks on.. As I go to check my tent I notice that the light didn't fire.. I go to take the light down to inspect and holy shit, it's hot as hell!! Why would my light not be on yet still hot.. Like it was at a pretty accurate temp as if the light was 5 min into its warmup.. Is this a ballast problem or a bulb problem? I only have one grow out of this bulb and it's a Suluxlight 1k MH.. My ballast has about 3 grows on it and never shown a sign of trouble.. That's a Cali ballast 1kw.. I'm a bit worried as I don't have backups of either lol

Turn the ballast off, replace lamp wait 20 minutes and turn back on.

A hot lamp is hard to light. I get some blackouts that only last a few minutes and my lamp wont fire up some of the time.

If a cold lamp wont light its ya lamp probably.

Update.. So I unplugged everything, cleaned light socket, put all back together..
When I turned ballast on it fired the bulb just fine, warm up was a little weird... Got a lot of strange color tones that I've never seen before.. Almost hps lighting from the MH.. After about 5 min again the bulb goes out.. This time the ballast actually turned off.. When I adjust the voltage I hear the click like it wants to fire, but no fans and no light.. The really strange thing is when I take the bulb out the ballast stays on... Am going to throw my hps in and see if I get the same issue.. Will report back in a few

OK so my HPS fired just like the MH, and a few min after the light died, ballast shut off, before I could count to 10 it fired back up and the light was full blast INSTANTLY.... has been running fine with the HPS since then but I'm kinda freaking out... I don't want a bulb to explode on me.. I can't find a site for Cali Ballast to claim a warranty either :wall:

Yea that's weird.
Just brainstorming as you search for a Cali Ballast contact, Could it be a faulty power cord, timer or power board? If u have spares maybe at lights off swap out. But it sounds like the Ballast.
