hi im a 1st timer w/ a dumb ?

I have spent a week alone just on the study of lights and yes I know all about the color spectrum so heresmy question I have a small area one big light do I use the light fixture but just change the bulb at the growing cycles right.

I don't think the question is dumb.
I think you worded it a bit weird though.
Are you talking about switching from MH to HPS?
If so, it depends on what kind of ballast you have.
Most digital ballasts will run both MH, and HPS.
If you are using a ballast that will run both you would use the same fixture and ballast and only need to switch the bulb.

you can use mh bulb for the entire grow use a 4k spectrum like a sylvania bt56.....

yes people do switch to hps bulb after onset.... when in flower

Ok 2 more things I'm wondering about when do u start giving ur plants plant food & whatever size ur room is does it. Have to be sterilized and put plastic. & foil or can I just put my plant and light in the closet

If your gonna only run 1 type of ligbting i would recommend hps all the way through,unless u have a switchable ballast as previously mentioned. Do not use foil, if your walls r painted white you'll b fine. Other wise black and white poly works great(panda film). And yes u want your area clean. R u in soil or hydro?

What kind of soil? Most contain enough minerals to feed the plant for awhile

Yes it will work. That is an amazingly vague question. If you're hide the grow from someone then no it's probably not the best idea.

Yes sterilized! Plastic to protect your carpets? And foil? Hopefully not aluminium foil. Maybe mylar is what you mean, never foil. And you can use flat white paint instead

Buy Mylar for reflecting light into the grow area it's like 25 dollars for a small roll. Make sure you have good ventilation to keep temps between 75 and 82 degrees. If you have metal halide bulb use it during the grow phase and switch to the hps for he flowering. Also what kind of soil are you using? If its a good soil your plants will need ONLY water for first 21 days than a mild mix of nutrients. In flowering you can up it. Hope this helps
