Okay so I'm new to the whole growing thing, and I probably won't be able to start my own growing until after college, but I have a question about one of the guys I know who does grow.
So here's the situation. The guy is almost 50, clearly he lived through an amazing time and tried a lot of drugs. He has been growing his own strain for quite a few years outdoors in the woods of central Ohio. I've only smoked it a few times, but that was when I first started smoking so I'm not sure I fully appreciated it. I do remember it not having any seeds and being really sticky. Last year it was stolen, most likely by some hunter because he grows outdoors in the middle of the woods. He says he doesn't harvest until immediately after the first frost because that's when the bud is at it's peak. Apparently the first frost turns the hairs all blue and purple and red.
I haven't actually seen the plants since he transplanted the young plants from his garden in the spring. He tells me that the buds get really long, like 5 feet. I'm excited to finally try this strain as a more experienced smoker, but I'm wondering is it really going to be good? He talks like he knows what he's doing and I believe him, but he is missing out on the wealth of information on the internet.
So, let's recap:
Outdoor
Experienced gradener
Late harvest (after first frost)
Blue or purple hairs
Big tall buds
So my question is to you experienced growers, does this sound like a good crop or not? Or maybe I don't have enough information. If that's the case I can always wait a few months and preform the real test, a good long rip from my pipe.
Any information would be welcome, I'm really interested in what makes a good growing environment, and I plan to have my own operation going eventually.
