Ok, so I'm really new to growing and will have tons of questions as time goes by. THIS questions have to do with Hermies. I have heard that seeds from Hermies ONLY produce female plants. Now, am I really crazy, or does this sound a bit far fetched?

Other question on the same track, I heard (on this forum) that MoB is ONLY female??? how can this be possible?

It is true.

Hermie seed's only produce females because they are a product of asexul reproduction. (See below)

The reason this is neat is because cannabis is a diclinous plant (meaning it doesn't normally grow male and female flowers year round - like a day lily for example). It's also an angiospern (flower bearing) plant, and of those I (think) less than 10% are or can be diclinous like cannabis. Most plant species do produce pollen and a stamen all in one, however many species have seperate male and female specimen. Not all plant species have male and female but undergo sexuality changes, like I said, less than 10% - I bet there is a better number, or even maybe a list. It's interesting stuff to enlighten yourself to.

As for the MOB being female question. You may be able to figure it out after reading this. If not we will still help! :)

Anyways. If you read the below from wikipedia regard asexual reproduction I'm sure you will understand your question.

Thank you Buddy! I actually understood that. I really enjoyed biology & genetics in high school (about 100 yrs ago lol) so thinking along those lines, I guess it isn't far fetched at all.

all my seeds from this year where from hermie reproduction and i got all females with no hermies whatsoever. i wish i did because now i dont have any seeds from this years batch. (i did have a male but it was from schwag male on female pollination((most likely))

I have a feeling that once some of you guys who are into making seeds and genetics etc try CS you will get psyched about it like me :)

Getting interested in what you enjoy is what it's all about! I too loved biology in HS, now if I only applied myself in the subject back then maybe I would have went to a better university and ended up doing real work. I'm fortunate I survived for as long as I did but I learned a lot and met some great minds! I manged somehow too to meet my wife and get married during that period of my life. That's not easy to do, with a few hundred scorpions strown about at any given time.

Well I mean if you want to pick it apart, I guess we are both wrong.

A "hermie" isn't a male or a female. It's a hermie. The female attributes (flowers) are more fully expressed and male, briefly or not at all - depending on eviromental conditions, other things science has explored but doesn't know. It's in botanical journals.

Personally Tet, I would LOVE to hang out and shoot the breeze with you. If we had access to the right material, settings and had the time I think you and I could come up with some "fun" stuff. I've never made an attempt breeding and being new to this scene I've got such little insight compared to you fellas. But I have a lot of cross-applicable knowledge that could help me if I ever went down that road. One bonus is... compared to my previous studies, if I did work with MJ, it can't harm or kill me!

On the other hand, I do have one grow/strain that's a result of accidential self pollinating, third generation! The first generation was an entire tent of a feminized strain that "hermied", made seed and were passed to me. My resulting flowers (not sure of plants/leafs because I never saw those) were exact in resin production, structure, smell. Mine were maybe better. However one of my two "hermied" and pollinated both plants, resulting in seeds which I just sowed a few days ago. I'm hoping each plant (looks) identical, that would be AWESOME considering it's the 3rd time around. Also, as a note... Over the weekend I harvested the only other plant I had going, this same strain. There aren't any seeds in this one, so only 1/3 of the 2nd generation "re-hermied", the conditions weren't ideal the entire grow though.

Kind of neat this coincides with our discussion we were having in the other threads. None of this was planned, and I wouldn't really have the oppurtunity to have this happen/monitor it if I wasn't still getting started. (I only have my closet setup.)

Yea, Buddy, me too, if only I applied myself to studies way back when, I'd probably be a disabled Dr like I wanted to be (well, Dr anyways, not disabled) I'll be starting a journal on here soon. Am still figuring this site out.
