Hi mate, I'm a newbie too and my first two plants died... so my advice is this...

essential equipment if you don't have it already:

a thermometer, a ph meter, a moisture wand.

ventilation is of the upmost importance, make sure they have fresh air going in and make sure the bad air can escape.

I found it useful to have both perlite and vermiculite mixed into my soil, good for drainage and retaining nutes.

My 3rd and 4th plants are growing really well... still early stages but so far so good.

best of luck!

Day 4

Thanks Shiva, I've got a themometor and wand, im picking up a ph meter today. I also have a good ventilation system set up. Thanks for the tips.

Anyway, I checked my germinating seeds this morning, one of them has germinated and the other 3 look like they're soon on their way. I'm so excited, I can't wait to plant them.

I've been reading alot alot alot on here, and I really think this will be a succesful grow!

Peace out,

TC

hey, no worries.

Best to keep soil and water slightly acidic... about ph 6.5 to 7 should be fine... i believe a slightly acidic soil will help plant turn female... which is what we all want!

best of luck dude.

Day 5

Well, that one germinated seed's root got a little longer so i put it into it's temporary "pot" (plastic cup, lol) and I'm gonna keep it there a few days. The other 3 have yet to germinate, but I still have hope, and hey, if they don't germinate, I have more seeds, can just start over, which would suck, but hey, it's early in. Anyway...wish me luck fellas!

Peace out,
TC

I believe you can plant those seed as soon as they crack. No need to wait for long tails on them. I did mine thay way anyhow because i couldn't wait and they sprouted. No need to wait for long tails just plant them soon as you see them crack open a bit.

Oh, thanks, I built a mini/temporary grow room in my closet just now with floros so i can start em growing, i have the floros about 5 in away, just for a start, once i move it into it's permenant veg. room, it will get plenty of floro light :)

Keep doing what you have been. Be diligent about checking the ph and temps. and you should have a nice crop! When you start to add your fertilizer do so slowly. I burned mine by following the directions on the bottle. Start at 1/4 strength and then work your way slowly up to full strength. Keep a watchful eye out for signs of over fertilization. If you see signs flush immediately.

I wouldn't have a crop if it weren't for mogies advice either!

I added nutes at quarter strength and the edges of my older 4 leaves burnt, so i would personally go even weaker... maybe 1/6 strength but don't addf them until your a couple of weeks in...

Thanks Mogie for your advice on getting a ph and moisture wand! My two most treasured purchases!!!

Thanks for all the support everyone...

I am trying something, just my curious nature, one of the seeds went into regular dirt from my yard...the other 3 are going into potting soil. Just to see what happens...

Anyway...thanks for all the tips, tricks, advice, and such  :hump: great to learn more!

Thanks for everything, everyone, I really hope this a succesful little crop I have going, 3 germinated seeds in potting soil, and still with my curious nature, one un-germinated seed in potting soil. Yeah, I'm crazy, but I've got plenty of seeds to last, lol
