Check out my grows for a good few hempy grows, I now do soil in hempy buckets as a medium its a lot easier than 100% perlite, I used to use 50/50 perlite vermiculite this was a really good mix now I do 50/50 soil perlite, Organic passive hydro lol.

Dalaihempy was his name in most forums....he started the movement with all perlite in the bucket then later moved to coco with a perlite res at the bottom. Simple drain to waste...I get wasted draining about it.
Hempy has been around longer than the internet mate :) people used it for general horticulture way back in the 60's maybe that guy online dubbed it 'hempy' but it's been around a LONG time, like most growing methods, they just kinda slowed down and have only more recently been used again :D

Anybody notice this thread was chopped? Posts since the 2/11 Ythor post above are all missing.....all my subscriptions but one are gone too....???
The forum got done over by a hacker and the rollitup admins had to do a restore from February something this year.

It's made to sound simple enough but I'm certainly having issues keeping it alive while the roots make their way through the perlite until they reach the reservoir

First off, Hempy was a fella that made internal resevoir buckets popular, hence the name hempy buckets. Hempy buckets are IRB's that use any medium besides soil pretty much.

In order to keep your plant thriving until the roots reach the resevoir, water daily at the base of the stem until the roots get long enough.

I use straight perlite, which wicks the water up from the resevoir.
