i am going to put a 400watt hps in a closet...ware do i plug it in since the regular oulet (120v) wont power it? i no i need a 220v outlet but how?? thanks all help appreciated

im pretty sure you can buy an adapter at a hardware/electronics store

your ballast should have a wire labeled 120v wire the power to that instead of 220v... if it doesnt have it ur fucked pretty much

400 watt that requires 220 outlet, how old is that ballast? Must be a OG setup. These days a measley 400 watt is 120v, even 1000 watts, lol.

you dont need any adapter, just plug in and it will power on, 120v is more than enough.

What 400watt set up did you buy? Most are wired for 120v and can be rewired for 220/240/277. If it's not and it has to have 220 you can by no mean plug it into a 120v plug. First the plug should be different and second it won't work. You'll have to run a 220v line into your closet to make this work. Before doing any of that make sure it can't be rewired to 120v.

Thats some bad advice man. You don't tell someone to just plug it in, it's fine. Thats dangerous and you risk them hurting themself or someone else.
