Help with my tent

I have decided to launch my quest for a good tent set up. I am an Arizona mmj patient and am allowed to cultivate in my state, however I live in an apartment complex where my neighbors are religious nuts so I'd like to keep my grow as low profile as possible, meaning little noise and most importantly as little smell as possible.

I plan on growing SCROG in smart pots (4- 5 gallon) using a mixture of FFOF and perlite, maybe some FFLW since I have read many good things on this combo. I will be receiving Advanced Nutrients Micro and Bloom for free so I want to use that via the Lucas Formula and maybe other sweeteners, but this is still up in the air. I'd love to hear any feedback/suggestions.

So far I have purchased:
—600w Lumatek mh/hps dimmable ballast
—Xtrasun 6" Air cooled reflector
—PlantMax MH and HPS bulbs
—4x4x6'8" tent...EDIT: After remeasuring my ducts they are indeed 6 inch ducts
—25' 6 inch insulated ducting w/ misc clamps and ducting tape
—DIY 36"x36"x22" PVC SCROG screen which is still misssing the plastic netting; eta: later this week 05/28

I looked up some formulas for cfm requirements and came up with 51.9CFM's (104/60=1.73*30=51.9) required for this tent based on an air exchange every two minutes. I think my numbers are completely fucked, can anyone shed some light on this?

Based on the journals I have read, I decided to go with a Can-Filter brand carbon filter. I do not know whether I should go for the Can 33 or Can 50, based on my required CFM and air exchange rates?
Can 33: http://www.amazon.com/Can-Carbon-Fi...LVRI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337974356&sr=8-1
Can 50: http://www.amazon.com/Can-Filter-50...GLKW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337974364&sr=8-1

Also I am thinking of picking up either the 6" Can Max Fan w/ built in 3 speed controller (334cfm) or the 6" Panasonic Whisperline (340cfm) with a speed controller. I want negative pressure in my tent for both heat and smell. If given the option which one would you pick or is there another model you'd suggest?

I plan to ventilate like this:
Air In Tent=Carbon Filter=Hood=Fan=Exhaust to room where tent is located (Window in room will be open or cracked, depending on smell lol)

I am very excited for my first grow and am eager to learn all i can about my future ladies

!! Any suggestions/comments/observations are welcomed.

Look up the S&P inline fans they use the least amount of power and are the quietest fans u can buy and use insulated flex ducting if you want to do it right with a fan speed controllers on each fan. I've used them for years in all my tents and it's best to have a diff fan for carbon scrubber and another on your air cooled hood. Even with the scrubber hooked up you can get dust inside your air cooled hood if you don't. Make sure your fan is pulling air threw the hood and not pushing. This will cost more having 2 fans but it will work best this way. The hole set up will make no more noise than a fridge running in the kitchen. Also if you plan on hanging the carbon filter use a lightweight Phat or Phresh filter to save weight on the tent. I use Phat filters and they have been running almost 2 years and still no smell

Thank you Tony I appreciate the feedback. I really dont want to spend the extra $150 on another fan so that one fan is on the carbon filter and another on the vented hood BUT how much more effective do you think it'll be if my outside temps never go above 80 and indoor temps never exceed 75? I think where I live is pretty cool that having ONE 6" fan at about 400cfm is fine but then again this is my first grow lol. :-P I can see where dust could become an issue and blow my hps or mh bulb (which would really suck mid grow) but realistically how likely is this to happen? Thank you again

Also Tony, if you could recommend a phat or phresh filter model that would suit my needs Id really appreciate it.

Cool. Some of the cheapies got bad leaky zippers, seams and pin holes. I'm glad you got a good one. :leaf:

Phat Filter size depends on cfm airflow of the fan you use. All those specs are listed on filter info sheet for you to match up. You can just use one fan but you will have to clean inside the air cooled hood and bulb more often alot of people do it that way but the other is better if you want to change later when you have the extra cash. The heat you will have to set it all up and check your temps and go from that. Also having your exhaust coming on when needed lets you have the proper co2 to air ratio and air exchanged when needed. You can't do that if it's having to run to cool the light the hole time

That makes sense. I guess for the time being I'll run one 6 inch fan and if it gets too hot then I'll have to get another one and run a set up like you say. Thanks!
