Help: with lighting mistake

Have a friend who is growing(Satori and Hashberry). Plants look healthy and good..10-12" tall. Sprouted 5 weeks ago. Just discovered that he has been using a 12/12 light cycle instead of 16/8. How should this problem be corrected? Should he simply switch to 16/8? or continue on the 12/12 and see it through? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Put them on a 18/6 or even a 24 hr cycle, Ive heard that plants can even go back to vegging from flowering but you'll have to look more into that

Thanks for your responses. Does anyone know if this change in light "shocks/stunt" plant growth?

this will not hurt the plant, although you may notice slight stunting for acouple days... i went through this a month ago with some hand me down clones. my buddy started flowering them earlier than i woulda liked. i simply switched em back to 24 hours of light. i did notice they did not grow for 3-4 days, but followed with a big growth spurt. now there full of bud and very healthy

switch over to a 24 hour light period. Plants can be switched from Veg to flower and vice versa. I just read about this in one of my books, The Marijuana Growers Bible, or Marijuana New School Growers Guide. It will take a lot longer to be ready to flower but it is possible according to the book

Uhm, switching to 24/0 or whatever light after inducing flowering might induce hermies... I would just keep it on 12/12 and get some low yields.

If you're worried about shocking the plants then adjust the light cycle gradually to 16/8. Switching cycles is easy. I have actually put my plants into a flowering cycle and waited for flowers. Once they began flowering I could pick out the males and replace them with females from a different room thus maximizing efficiency.
Switched back to veg cycle for 6-7 more weeks and back to flowering for good. Its a long boring process but its possible.
