Help with fungus gnats.

So I noticed fungus gnats in my soil this morning. Read somewhere that dish washing liquid mixed with water kills them. So I mixed up a batch and sure enough every single one of them was dead 2 minutes later. This is my first grow in almost 10 years and the first time I've ever seen them. My question is do I keep watering with this dish washing solution every time I water to make sure kill the larvae? Does this even kill the larvae? Or does the dish washing soap only kill the adults?

I have used almost every method I could find. Some worked better than others. Ultimately, theonly thing that completely rid them was a combination of, Food Grade Daitimatious Earth, sprinkled on DRY soil, and yellow sticky traps.
I think using all those online remedies kinda screwed me. I kept thinking they were gone. It takes 2 weeks for larva to mature.
Do yourself a favor. Get those 2 things and forgetaboutit. The larvae will feed off your roots,the plants will always be stressed and your yeild will be comprimised.

DM earth on the DRY soil worked well for me, plus the sticky traps. Make sure your vents have filters if you have any passive intakes.

I used the ditimatious earth food grade. A little safer to use but still I wear a mask just in case, just be sure to use it when the top layer is a little on the dryer side.

I had to do something. What did you want me to let them breed so they could get out of control? Yea not gonna happen. rather kill them now and kill the larvae off when the DM comes.

I had this problem a few days ago, for the first time. I just read to put a 1 1/2 inch layer of perlite on the top. I did it , checked back an hour later and problem solved. Haven't seen one since.

I wasn't advising to, not use any other method. I would use whatever I had.
Just sayin,those 2things worked the best for me. Good luck

I just got rid of some gnats with sns 203 organic root drench and yellow stickys im 2 weeks in the clear so far.
