Help with diy setup

Okay basically i have read through Rosemans diy guide to making your own dwc and have a few questions. From reading through alot of grow journals the the 6 pot set up on a 10 gallon tote seems pretty crowded for decent growth. My question is would i be better off getting two resivors, 10 gal. each, and putting 4 plants in each? i will be using a 600w hps/mh in a area roughly 4ft wide 6ft height and 3 feet deep....i want to basically get the most out of my plants so i want to make sure theres enough space for adequate growth for all 8 if possible. any suggestions/feedback are welcomed

i think 6 in a 10 gal tote would depend on the strain, some smaller stains would be just fine. I am doing 3 blackjacks in a 10 gal tote and they fit fine
