Help with Auto Grow

I plan on getting some getting some afghan kush ryder autos for an outdoor. They have a flowering period of 45 - 55 days. I play on vegging outside for around 2 - 3 weeks then planting. What is the best soil to use for seedlings / veg, best soil mix to use for flowering / in the ground, and what are the best nutes for an auto?

Hey Taylored,
First of all, don't transplant or repot. Start them in the container they will finish in as autos don't like their roots to be messed with, they will stunt and you wont get much yield.

I am doing an auto run now, just used Scotts moisture control premium potting mix with Osmocote fert already in it. They are doing great.

A note on potting soil... the scotts ph'd at 4.5, way to acidic so I watered with ph 8 water for the first couple of weeks, then used ph 7. I am in week 5 now and I am still watering with ph 7 water. just test the run-through when you water, should be about 6.3 to 6.7

I don't have experience with the ak ryder but with a harvest time of 45 to 55, they will almost certainly be flowering by 12 to 14 days, no matter what you do. Try some in 3 to 4 gallon pots and some in the ground....see how they like it.

Good luck,

Hops

Taylored, if you haven't seen it already, check out this thread devoted to growing autoflowers: https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/199319-autoflower-thread-resource-guide.html

I've grown quite a few autos. Your auto will go from seed to harvest in about 70 days, so just plant it in a pot, at least 1 gallon. It will not get rootbound and be just fine. I use Fox Farms Ocean Forest potting soil. I don't feed any nutes until about the 4th week. Start around 1/4 to 1/2 strength nutes. You can put them directly in the ground, but with such a short lifespan, it won't really be any benefit. Very easy to grow plants. I haven't grown an afghan kush ryder, but I just looked it up and they look nice. You will like the outcome. Best of luck. Oh, there's plenty of examples of different auto varieties in my grow journal, linked to my signature.

Thanks for the help fellas, @ Pablo, Should I plant them into 5 gallon buckets?

No need for a 5 gallon bucket for 1 autoflowering plant. Hell, you can grow a 6 foot regular plant over an entire season in a pot that big. The biggest I've used is 3 gallons, and the rootball barely made a dent in that much soil. I was bummed that I wasted that much good soil. 2 gallons is fine, and to be honest, I've used smaller and there was no difference in the size/output of my plants between a 1 gallon or a 3 gallon.
