Help, where I went wrong with 1st SS grow??!! Problems... :D :(

So I made the switch to organic / super soil my last grow. I WAS using dyna grow previously. I was happy with the end product, but super soil just seemed more appealing + organic and easy maintenance...

There were a couple of problems my last grow.

1.) I'm growing a VERY VERY frosty strain "White Fire" by raskal. Yes, it is real genetics. When I grew out 5 plants using dyna grow, ALL 5 PLANTS were SUPER coated with trics VERY VERY frosted. Even in the very beginning of flower I was seeing a ton of crystals on ALL plants. Now....fast forward to organic super soil. Using the same strain White Fire, NONE of the 3 plants I did had crystals until about week 5 in flower. The buds were forming just as fast as previous grow, BUT no crystals :( By the time I harvested, the crystal production was way less than my prvious grow with dyna grow on all plants. Also, I had A TON of trim that was completely covered including fan leaves using dyna grow, and hardly any of the leaves had trics using SS this past grow (including sugar leaves :( ). I dont understand...it is a very frosty strain, what could've been wrong???? What causes more/less trics? My temps aren't an issue, its 80F at the very tops of my plants and I've got a window ac. I just don't get what the difference could be between the 2 different methods?? My lights I'm using in flower is a 600w HPS hortilux and a 400w CMH. the only difference between the 2 grows that I can think of is on the dyna grow I had 2 20w UV-B bulbs going throughout flower and on the SS grow, I didn't include them. But I dont think the UV-B alone wouldve caused that much of a difference. Besides I AM using a CMH light also which adds uvb anyway. Any thoughts/??

2.) I flowered in 5g smart pots. After the chop, looking at my root zone in the 5g pots, I can see the root zone never went to the sides, and probably ONLY takes up about 1-2g total of the entire 5g pot!! WTF :( So obviously my root zone and yield was affected? I water with RO water. Could this be because of my method of watering? I will admit last grow I got sloppy with watering due to injury that kept me from bing too physical. So I will assume this problem could be due to insufficient watering?

3.) Also, during the dyna grow grow, the buds grew "normal" progressively speaking. HOWEVER using the SS, ALL the plants I had in flower, grew with bottom buds maturing 1st!!! And top buds maturing way later, why??? It is not the strain, I had different strains and they all grew that way. It was weird... I would have amber tric buds on bottom, and ALL white hair buds on top. Buds on top would have cloudy trics, but all white hairs... I'm not saying this is due to the fertilizer method, I just dont know what the difference couldve been between the 2 grows.

3.) Fast forward to my CURRENT grow. Again, I'm using "The White" strains by raskal (known for super crystal production). I'm 3 weeks in and I dont see ANY trics :( I just dont get it... I dont want to mess this grow up (especially these genetics)!!! None of the plants in flower now have trics, they are forming buds/hairs, but NO TRICS!!

4.) The buds I got using SS have excellent smell / taste, but the potency sucks so far!!! Again the strain I used White Fire is super potent with tested results of 27% thc in some phenos. The dyna grow plants were ALL very potent 1-2 hits for me, and I smoke everyday. The SS potency just isn't there :( I'm not sure if its de to the lack of crystals that the dyna grow bud had?? But it just doesnt hit hard at all, no where near the same results I got previously. What gives??

5.) This is the last problem I noticed. I know you're not supposed to flush SS during the grow and at harvest, so I didn't flush. The buds burn with a black ash!! Why?? I made sure ALL ingredients were organic and only used what others are using. The only thing I added during some of the waterings was organic backstrap molasses. The buds taste good, but the ash is black, I dont get why it would be black when others using SS are white? The bud is still kinda wet (curing zone). If the bud isn't dry enough when smoked can this cause black ash due to not being dry enough or not having enough cure time??

Again, I'm not trying to bash or blaim SS. But being thats all i changed other than the 2 uvb lights, I want to know what happened or what I did wrong! I dont want the same thing to happen this grow!! perhaps I mixed the SS wrong? I did let it "cook" for about 45 days prior to using. But one thing I noticed was the temperature of the SS never seemed to increase when it was enclosed/covered. I have it inside in my house sitting ina covered storage bin. If I open it and feel it, the temp is somewhat cold. Is this ok for cooking?

please I've getting desperate. My plats in flower now have EXPLODED with growth, really healthy green, nothing dead leaves, and buds are forming quick in SS... But there's NO TRICS!!! I don't want a repeat of last bud results :( :( Please, I'm sorry to come across like this, just want to make sure I get good results this time!

thanks all

80 can be too hot if it gets over 85 if could be stunting them form growing trics or it could just be a later flowering strain sounds like they could be shocked too

It doesnt get over 85. 80F is THE HOTTEST it would get (distance of 12" from tops with both lights connected to each other). That's with ac set on 65F.

The plants certainly don't look shocked they are growing massive and and very healthy green color, just no trics :(

Depending on strain and other conditions temp can affect a lot of things. Also the supersoil "cooking" is cooking like letting fungus and microlife develope and then start feasting on the soil etc... It doesn't relate to heat. Sometimes it can get warm, but the cooking is not heat related.

Really if you did the supersoil recipe correct, it won't mean much to a strain. SS is like using nutes because strains don't follow the same feedings ya dig... So even though you might have made it perfect, that strain might need a different ratio of things. Super soil is just makin your own organic hot soil. A lot of people do this with no relation to supersoil. They often spend years perfecting a mix and what's good for each strain.

Its really kind of art, both for getting a great microherd going and finding the right amount of everything for the strains you're running. Might try the organics forum for more info.

None of us can tell you what your doing wrong thousands of people use SS and get amazing results so the only variable is the products you used.
In my history trying to help others when I look into it somehow some mistake was made. SS is not some magical mix that you have to get perfect every photo you see of mine is shot in SS and to be honest I am not some great grower
I created super soil because I am not and needed something dependable. If your having probs then somethings drastically wrong and if its kicking your ass this bad switch back to dyna grow bro SS is supposed to take stress outa life not add to it.

I wish I had some easy answer but I've made SS all over the world using all type of ingredients and it works for me.
