HELP! What is this what cotton like stuff on the stem?

They're spreading quite fast up the stem of the plant. they started off at the bottom and not they're at least half way up the plant.
Does anyone know what this crap is?

It's like a cotton / web type texture and when you quash one it's like greenish blood inside.

Idk what it is, but it looks like a fungus. I thought it was perlite stuck to your stems at first.
What are your growing conditions? Humidity, Soil moisture level, Temp, etc.
Are you using a foliar spray?
That's some crazy stuff. I hope someone comes along that knows what it is and can tell us about it.
 
Probably mold but there is a chance it is a scale insect. There are hundred of varieties that get on all sorts of plants, lots just look like fuzz or mold but actually are colonies of insects attached to the stem. Rub it and if it's juicy could be scale. Heres a pic of some stem scale:

They are a sap sucking insect, nasty beggars. Spray with Don't Bug Me about 3 times in a week and recheck for new activity. Alos moisten a cotton ball or similar and wipe down the main stem (GENTLY), it's already vulnerable so it'll damage much easier. Keep away from ALL plants.
 
FOUND IT! Mealybugs is what they are. You can use Verticillium lecanii for control, wipe them off(but that doesn't stop infestation), use an organic systemic, anyone at home smoke tobacco? Butts in a container of water. STINKY! Spray sparinglyand keep away from anything you don't want dead. Nicotine is very poisonous, wonder why I smoked cigs for 44 years?
 
Yep, mealybugs are a scale insect without a hard shell. If the nicotine turns you off I have used a combination of dormant oil and insecticidal soap several times to control them on other indoor plants. Outdoors malathion knocks them on their ass.
 
Malathion is some great but nasty stuff. Be careful about using it in flower as I don't know how it will effect flavor aroma etc.

Gently clean them with q tips dipped in to rubbing alchohol. That destroys the white-powdery shield they have.
Then spray "mineral oil" excluding the buds of course.

I would not use it on weed and did not mean to imply that, sorry. But for other horticultural uses it is real effective for soft scales.

I'll tell you what works for me...I had a spidermite infestation and fungus gnats. I used and still use as a preventative, Neem Oil...You can foliar spray, water once a week and it will keep the plant munchers and any other bugs away from your babies..keep in mind some people will tell you it doesn't work, but you have to keep applying it weekly, the plants love it, and it doesn't mess with the taste or potentcy of my ladies, BUT, if used weekly (foliar spray and water after lights out) I guarantee your problem will not be a problem for long...I use it all the time now, and it's fairly cheap..like 7-8 bucks for about a 2 month supply, but you have to mix it with an emulsifier (Organic or Enviormentaly safe dish soap) good luck man...

you are correct it is a wooly scale bug. if you use a sharp knife and scrape the waxy fluffy excretion off youll find one of these inside sucking on the plant





use a mild soap and a soft cloth to wash them off your stem, apply sevin dust to the stem, foliage and soil, and keep your area dry as a motherfucker
