Help. What are R1 seeds?

I’m trying to get a healthy seed collection, I’ve been buying a few packs a month. I keep seeing R1’s and I’m not sure what exactly that means. I know F1, S1, BX1, if anyone with some knowledge would be able to help me out, I would appreciate it.

R1 is the first filial generation of a reversed line/feminized line. Same as an F1, except the pollen donor is a reversed female. A little different than an S1..

For anyone that may stumble upon this thread

F1 = Female x Male (not related)
F2, F3, ... Female (sister) x Male (brother)
R1 = Female x Female forced hermie
S1 = Female forced hermie or stress/plain old hermie where most of your 1337 cuts come from

If you're building a seed collection try to keep your stash 90 plus percent regular seeds. Out of the 230 strains I own I maybe have 10 packs of fems and three packs of ruderalis regular seeds.

So....S1 is selfed whereas R1 is a feminized line?

Yes. DNA has been selling feminized lines for years, they never called them R1's just feminized seeds. This R1 designation is pure marketing bs imo.

The term BX stood for backcross but "breeders" like Ethos think crossing two different strains give you a BX. So I think the definition of BX has changed along with IBL and True Breesing line.

Example of Ethos BX1 craziness. Ethos Hashplant BX1 consists of Ethos KUSH IBL #13 x California Black roze .... So no Hashplant? Um thats not a backcross since its not backcrossed to a Hashplant. Claims it a true breed line too lol

FYI Watch your wallets around hype sellers folks

What do you do with the C. Ruderalis?

Ethos is not a breeder and just a chucker like the rest, hiding behind wrong terminology. R1 should be F1 R. Ethos is not really even a good human. He has record of beating animals. Anyone that put out as many crosses like he does is a pollen chucke . He has no worked lines and his bx are not really bx.

No hermies involved in S1 or F1 seeds. Total myth. S1 is the method of reversing a stable strain and crossing it over itself. R1 is the reversal of one strain and crossing it over a different strain. Both create feminized seed from STABLE strains. Please correct me if I'm wrong but this is my understanding.
Hermie flowers are totally different to a male sack created by the many forms of reversal. Pic below is a reversed sativa strain. I used colloidal silver as the reversing agent. I collected the pollen and have crossed it over itself, using the same plant and others. So I'll be getting S1 and R1 feminized seeds. I can expect at least 99% of these to be female. There is always that 1% window of error involved in creating feminized seeds. Although I've never seen it.

One that flies under the radar, and actually works his lines, not pollen chuck, is Omureta Genetics. He's got some good stable lines that produce some amazing smoke. I've also had nice lines from Humboldt Seed Company, Humboldt CSI, and Mosca. These are just a few that I've grown that "work" their lines, not just pollen chuck and spit out seeds every month. Don't get me wrong, there are some true gems to be found in some of the chuckers lines, but breeds that have been worked and "stabilized" are more uniform, and usually only have a couple phenotypes, not all over the place, pop 10 seeds and get 6 or 7 different phenos. Take a look at Compound HQ's latest grow, where he used some "Nukeheads" so called genetics, and how wildly different the phenos from them are. That's one that I highly would NOT recommend.

Omuerta heri f4 he had when he come out a couple yrs ago was the only complete herm I’ve grown in 30 yrs. not just a male sac or two, both male and female flowers the complete length of plant. CSI, stray fox, inkognito (great sale right now) founding fathers for fems, imho. Always remember when someone gives you the stabilized worked line speech, the chems and ogs and gg4 basically were accidents, not necessarily worked lines. I am flowering out some Afghan landrace, jbad aka tora bora and it’s def not for production or even headstash more for a preservation project, but hey it’s a worked line by nature lol
