Help Please!! My plants stem split...

Well today I had a huge accident, and I need some advice please!!!

I moved my plants out of the closet they were in because they were getting way too big... So I put them in the middle of the room... One of my plants fell over, and the stem split in the middle a little... Basically it slit down the shute on each side of the stem... Now the stem is really thick, and I added a rope to support the weight from the top... But what else can I do?? Or is my plant going to die from the split on up??? I still have a bunch of flowers below the split, but I want to salvage the beauties on top!!!

I attached a pic if that helps...

Any and all advice is much appreciated!!!!

Thank you!!!

anything will work. wrap snug but not to tight. you can use black tape, scotch tape, masking tape.........

Thank you all for the advice...

Well I wrapped up the stem as suggested... I put some padding around the stem, taped it, and then tied it to give it support at the bend, and to hold it together... It broke at a point where the stem was curved as I was trying to direct the growth when it started to get too big for the closet... but It just kept growing! I flowered at 12" and they are over 6 feet now!

Anyway, here are some pics of the bandage, and the buds that were hopefully saved!!!

Thanks again!!!

if it makes it thru the next 24 hours then it will be ok. it may wilt a little but should perk back up. i had a huge umbrella fall on 3 of my outdoor plants last year. i did lose 1 branch but saved about 6 others.

you flowered at 12" and they are 6'? wow, that's all i can say.

I will keep a close eye on them... they are wilted a little, but not too much, and the rest of the plant is adjusting to the new environment... They are also in a new room, and the temp has been cooler in the last few days too... I added a second airstone to the tank as well to get more oxygen in the water...

I know! It is my first grow, and all I heard was double, maybe triple in size, but not these! They just kept growing, and growing...

The last one is hard to see because of a low res camera... but almost 6 times the size of day 1!

It doesn't really matter when you start flowering, as a plant needs to reach full maturity in veg before you switch over. If you switch over too early then the plant will continue to mature using the 12 hours of light it is given. It also depends heavily IMO on pot size. Even in a 2 gallon bucket a sativa can reach unbelievable height. I topped one of mine in half (during veg, of course) and still ended up with a six foot plant.

If you're growing a sativa, if I were you I'd expect even more growth. Sorry, I must apologise as I have read this thread but have forgotten how long you've been flowering... also, how big are your buckets?

I have been flowering for 35 days now... And I have 2 plants in a 13 gallon drip system... the system holds 6 plants... I managed to get 3 going, 1 was male, and now I have 2 beautiful ladies!!

So if a 2 gallon bucket produced over a 6 foot plant, then I may be in trouble! Actually I already am! But I have an entire bedroom to dedicate to finishing this grow!! I think I will just need to support the branches... The walls of the closet were doing that until now!

I don't think I cut too early though... It was around day 40 of veg... Can you even tell by looking at them when they are ready, or just by giving them enough time in veg... I heard 30 days..

Yes, you can. When a plant is reaching maturity in veg the nodes will start to alternate rather than growing adjacent to each other. So with 2 plants with 6 1/2 gallons each... please tell me you're growing a hybrid.

If sativa, you're looking at getting a really tall plant. As they can flower forever (at least it seems that way to me, supposedly 8 wks is more like 12). Luckily though this time won't be spent growing upwards. Even at this stage I can't tell you how tall your plants are going to get without direct experience of the strain you're growing.

Although, it sounds like you have everything under control and are enjoying every second of your plants' growth.

If you don't mind, I'd like you to keep this thread going, keep me posted on height and eventual yield.

That is good to know for the next round! thanks.... But looking at my pics when I put them in flower, I think they look like they were ready... And yes it is a hybrid... Crystal -

DESCRIPTION : This marijuana plant is a White Widow variety crossed with Northern Light. Its buds are big and sticky. The Crystal marijuana plant has a unique, sweet aroma with a quick hitting high. Lots of THC crystals. Winner of the High Life cup 2005!

The flowering should be interesting... They have been in flower for 5 weeks now... But I have to go out of town in exactly 4 weeks from today... for 10 days!! So I am hoping that they mature before I have to leave... If they are not done, then I will have a delima... I don't have anyone to ask to take care of them as no one knows.. And I want to keep it that way... So I will have to harvest early, or if they look like they need 10 days, then I will have to just give them extra water, and hope they will be ok... the flowering time was 8-9 weeks by the chart for Crystal.... And if I can harvest, then I hope I hang them correctly to dry, and be ok for 10 days... Been doing a lot of research on that!

I don't mind at all! I will post pics, and updates... And yes I am loving every minute of this grow... I can't tell you how long I have been waiting to start growing myself...

And finally I got some more supports for them, and they are doing good with the split in the stem... So it looks like they made it ok!!

Thanks again for everyone's advice!

Well just a quick update.... Almost 2 weeks sice the fall, and she is doing great....

I did one more nute change today, and then in 1 week I think I will change to plain water until they are done...

A few updated pics attached...

Thanks Green... I can't tell you how horrible of a feeling it was to see that baby fallen over, and bent in the middle! I'm so relieved it is ok...
