HELP needed plz 600W HPS ballest/bulb blown

hi all

went in grow room to find light was off thought it was the bulb at first but it looks fine??

so i looked at the ballest it doing nothing not warming up (COLD TO THE TOUCH) not making bulb come on or flicker it just dead any help would be great as i got 6 chronic seedlings thats going to need the light cheers

Throw some CFLs in there pronto while you figure it out. You really don't need enough light for them to grow well but keep that light schedule constant.

Hard to tell from over here. Does the ballast normally hum or buzz? Is it humming or buzzing now when you turn it on? If there is a difference between now and before it is probably the ballast. Otherwise it might be the bulb. Have you tried a fresh bulb?

no not tried a bulb yet as not got a spare thats why i wanted to get a ruff clue as to what had blown

also just to add its a maxibright

and it doing nothing at all no humming not warming up just dead

but again the bulb and the ballest has only been used for 1 grow 3 months total

Have you checked the outlet? You may have popped a breaker or fuse.

Make sure it's getting power first.

ive not tripped any switchs in the meter box so not that
and i changed fuse in the power plug for ballest and still the same
ty for the post

check where the wiring goes into the ballast, make sure none have worked loose, also make sure the pins are making good contact where the two leads meet and also where the bulb screws into the holder. could be a blown ballast but check all wiring first. is your ballast still under warranty.

the ballast wont warm up if the bulb is blown. it cant create the closed loop circuit and will never fire.

hi again all

thanxs to a good m8 of mine i managed to find out what the prob was
i was lent a bulb and a ballest tried the bulb first and still the same
so tried the 2nd ballest and all powered up my m8 said i could keep the ballest
till i get replacement in a week or 2 so now im happy coz if i wasnt lent the ballest i would of been right up shits creek
with £60 worth of seedling that would of been really light starved and would almost defo hermied when hit with the heat and light
so ty to all who posted with help and ty to my m8 who lent the bits to solve the prob you no who you are and your a fucking star son ty again
