so he'll be here on saturday which gives me two days to move our girl from her nice roomy grow room to a very cramped spot under a shelf, which we plan to cover stealth like....

but here's the problem... we need to minimize the lights we pack under the shelf...and were wondering if we could use mirrors to maximize the available lighting??? I've heard nothing but contradictions on the mirror matter. Also her schedule is a little inconvenient for grand-dad's visit as well ...we need to switch it but..we're bout 2weeks into flowering so how can I do this safely?

Thanks:peace:

Should have thought about Gramps before starting your "girl" and maybe Gramps is into bud and you don't know it???? As for the move, just do it. You aren't going to upset the apple cart too bad with a change in the time of light. If you do it too often, you may experience re-veg but two weeks in is nothing. Go for it.

Yeah I would go for it too. Maybe offer your grandpa a lil smoke? Anyways, one down side i found to using mirrors is they can burn your plant. So you might want to be checking on it quite regularly to see its not suffereing.

mirrors suck if you need a quick fix for reflect...use white smooth constuction papper...just make sure you have a little room..an how long will the light cycle be fucked up for...

FYI mirriors arnt as refletive as you might think. this is because the silver in the mirrior takes alot of the light energy out..... about 50 % reflective...maybe less. but better than nothing :)

I heard some one on another post say something about buying that crappy wrapping paper from the dollar store, you know the kind, the one thats shiny on the inside, and hanging that. they claimed it worked pretty well for them. similar to mylar if not nearly the same material or something. i think its worth a shot.

I'm sure you could duplicate your plants current environment in a cabinet with some cfls and mylar. As far as keeping the light inside goes, maybe tape a towel up inside the front of it and then install a lock on it to keep ppl out!

I changed my light cycle like three weeks into flowering. I went from 8 am off -8 p.m. on to 8 p.m. off 8 a.m on. I changed the cycle so they would be awake when I was. I am now entering week six and they are just fine. Listen to the other guys , mylar is the way to go I hvae tons of it . I think it is more reflective thatn say like a whaite wall.................good luck~

Mylar is 100% reflective whereas white wall is a bit less, depending on gloss, satin or flat finish. Mirrors, no no! Mylar, yes yes. White butcher paper also works well and comes in big rolls that can be had at Costco or similar places. :hump:

if you cant get the mylar do like everyone is sayin...get cheap white glossy papper...it will work fine but if you can get mylar get it..i guess...i've heard mixed things about it...

Mylar is great as plants actually grow towards it. Much better than a white wall and tin foil. Foil works but is hard to apply to the wall, tears easy, etc. Mylar can be had at a grow store, internet, whatever. Comes in rolls about 36" to 48". Hydro stores are your best bet to find it.

Polywrap as shown in pic is just as effective as mylar. It can be found at the dollar store and is used for giftwrapping.:hump:

I would suggest getting some white reflective material from your local hydro shop. It is black on one side and white on the other. While it might not be quite as reflective it will hold up much better. I am growing with mylar right now and any liquid that gets on it damages the reflective quality. Tea even took the reflective out of it and in the spots the tea got it is totally clear paper now. Overspray sticks to it and cannot be cleaned off.

Well we're half way done...
got the one wall up, got the butcher paper up (don't have a hydro shop :( wally world's even a 30 min. drive)
got her in and some light on her
it's lookin good and I really like the paper it works awsome!!! half the light lights her up twice as well.

I'm gonna scrounge for batteries and try to take some pics. thanks!

the story bout grandpa. If anyone gives a hoot.... he's coming for a two day memorial day thing and he's also bringing my two autistic uncles...eek! But it's really not as bad as it seems just gotta be stealth like...and if he found it I'd just offer him a J. he's a cool guy I'd just MUCH rather avoid the awkward. I HATE confrontation + he's my grampa!:-)

Nice thing about mylar (unless you stapled the shit out of it to the wall) is that you can take it down, turn it around and use the other side. If you are spraying, put up some temporary 1ml plastic sheeting (from home depot in 10' wide rolls) to cover the mylar. I had mylar on the walls for years with no trouble.

Maybe I just got a bad batch. It would be quite a bit of work for me to take the mylar down and turn it around. I just think that I will go with the white reflective plastic from the hydro shop.
Thanks
