Help me with larvae identification (pics)

I'm new to all this. I have never used MJ, I was not in the right "click" in high school and my job of 24 years did random drug testing. So I'm about to retire and want to experience the "ganja culture" for myself.

I ordered some seed and popped ten into some potting soil. I now have 5 seedlings to care for. I was curious about the other 5 so I dug around in one of the pots. The seed I found looked like it had a hole on one end and smashed flat with nothing inside it. The next seed had germinated and started to grow, but it looks like it died and got mushy. Two of the seeds have not been found yet. They are listed as MIA.

The last seed is the one I took some pictures of. It had some kind of larvae living inside of it. I don't know if this bug came with the seed or came with the potting soil. I hope somebody can tell me what it is.

Fungus gnat larvae. It came in your soil. It likely crawled into the seed shell to feed on the taproot..

Will freezing my unused potting mix kill anything else living in it. I have a very old chest deep freezer that I can put the bags in.

I would reccommend just buying some mosquito dunks/bits and crushing/mixing with your soil. Best to be sure you actually kill them, rather than freezing...
