Heyo

Been growing outside for a few years and want something to do this winter. I've got the space for a 9x4 grow tent and a 240v 30amp dryer receptacle available (4 prong). The lights I want to use are the viparspectra 1200, 3 of them. Actual wattage draw is 525 watts a piece. How do I go about doing this without and electrician. Links appreciated.. damn just build me a list of stuff and I'll refrence you in a journal this winter haha.

Thanks folks

Need to know what part of the world your in. For correct voltage, plug style etc etc. Sounds easy enough. Swap that 4 prong to whatever you need. 30 amps is plenty for 3 of those lights. This could make it simple.

Lighting to consider, top trending in general.
Quantum Boards.
COB arrays.
315w CMH.
.......
Not sure........ You should be able to use your 220 for both, 220 and 110 equipment, with appropriate electrical hardware.

Un-tent. Rigid foam is my go to choice for a tent. Sealable for Co2, self insulating which is mandatory for me as it's in my 100+ degree garage. Always pros and cons.

Yea scratch that. Since your in canada and 110/120 is standard. Just re wire the existing wiring on your breaker. That gauge wire will be plenty big enough for your goals. I'm not an electrician by any means but it's pretty simple stuff. Personally i'd spend $15-30 usd and get a sub panel box and wire from that 240 wire.

That 4 prong is perfect for a sub panel. You will have 2 hots(black) 1 neutral(white) and ground (green or bare). On a sub panel thats exactly what you need. Like this picture but you'll need the neutral wire/bar to run 110v breakers.

I wonder if they make these subpanels that plug into the outlet instead of wiring. Like a light controller.

Is that something that would work in this situation? Could I run extention cords from that and run my lights and other gear? Should I use a breaker strip too? Sorry for the barrage

If wiring scares you I understand. Took some studying before I started doing this stuff myself. It's really simple stuff once you understand how it works.

That would be perfect for him.
Getting an electrician is out of the question because I'm in a small community and everyone knows everything. I'm limited by my basement to be honest, been in a chair for 10 years and live alone in a 3 story. The basement has the panel so I'm limited to what I can do with the receptacle I have on the main floor. My wall circuits are full up and the dryer outlet is just sitting there. I manage well with the outdoor stuff but I'd like something to do during our 6 month winters haha

This would work great but you still need to wire it.

Yep. But first, I would google, read electrician forum sites, watch utube videos, etc... There are lots of different hardware options, don't think you need a grow brand. Maybe go into home depot type store. Ask electician on duty.

This stuff looks intimidating on paper but it's really easy.

Exactly what I did. Study! You'll see it's very diy friendly.

Ehhhh there we go! Problem solved! So I've got the autopilot, a dryer plug and extension cords on the list. I'm not sure how the 120/240 outlets on the autopilot work in concern to a power strip running fans and other accessories
I'm not gonna do a hydro setup as I'm already jumping from caveman to astronaut (outdoor vs. Indoor) lol

It's amazing how much crap we have to plug in. One thing leads to another, and another....,$$arghhhh$$. Lol

Make a list, add up the outlet and amp requirements. Each outlet should have a rating....15amp....for example, not to exceed.
