Help me plan to move to WA - any IT potheads out there?

So you may not want me, but I'm comin anyway :) WA and OR are where it's at to be a grower right now as far as I'm concerned. As cool as portland sounds, I'm thinking the Seattle area is going to end up being our home -- for one thing I'm in IT and the job market seems to be best for that near Seattle. So here's my questions for now...

1) How is the IT job market in seattle right now? I checked out some job listings and it seems like there are jobs there for what I do available, but someone who lives there might know better than me :) Nowhere near as many IT jobs in my area available in portland. What is the norm for drug testing in the IT field there? Here it is piss tests, and I've had no problems with those (fake urine)

2) I'm not super picky on where to live (at least at first) - I know the coastal areas are expensive and the cost of living is probably higher than where I'm at... what are some good areas to look at living for someone who is not poor but also doesn't want to spend their salary on where they live.. would love to live on land, don't mind living in the country, but it'd have to be near enough to commute to seattle probably - would love to get a remote job but doubt that'll end up being the case. Not really into downtown living... someplace reasonably affordable that does not have a lot of crime is the goal. Will probably be looking to rent a house at first.

Open to any other suggestions as well... i've done the move across the country to someplace i've never lived thing before but never to west coast. Hoping to move July 2013 when current lease is up -- wanting to save and plan for it now

Any of the main cities south of seattle is the place to go but what the hell is a IT job? and if your looking to cultivate and just sell your cannabis than dont think you'll survive.
For one, everyone here in washington and Or. have sources to cannabis even lil 13 year olds now and days and can get very good prices. Put it this way there is so much here the price has dropped down very bad and there is no secure finance in this unless you know people, and have sources. plus you have to spend money on equipment to even cultivate and if your buying cheap stuff to grow, you might as well go home.
AND REMEMBER i-502 might pass and who knows how that is looking like for medical marijuana growers.
Marijuana is not ment to make money off. ITS ALL ABOUT CONNOSEUR AND POTENCY not commercial grow ops that concentrate in quantity over quality. Thats why we cultivate our own medicine legally to our own standards.
So just stay in whatever state you are youll spend more in moving...lol
and dont mind my mispelled words.

I wouldn't take this guys advice whatsoever. The area is great and if you know what you are doing, you can do fine.. Always remember higher the quality more people will pay. This guys lost his head somewhere in the vicinity of his Ass. And yeah as you can see there are the Nazis out trying to stop all they can from growing here...

TOG TOG TOG..you poor man. WHAT PART OF WA ARE AND HOW MANY FRIENDS DO YOU HAVE? AND DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THE SCENE IS LIKE IN THE MEDICAL MARIJUANA INDUSTRY. I DOUBT YOUR A VENDOR TO A CLUB AND HIGHLY DOUBT YOU TALK TO OWNERS OF CAMPASSION CLUBS TO GET AN IDEA OF HOW PRICES ARE OUT HERE WITH DONATING TO MIDDLE MANS AKA DISPENSARIES.
AND STFU ABOUT NAZIS THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO ABOUT THE TOPIC.

I'm not a commercial grower I grow for personal consumption. Of course if I ended up with extra and a dispensary wanted it, I probably would sell some, but I don't need to sell anything to make money. IT = Information Technology - I' a database developer/administrator. I know every teen and 20 something wants to move west, grow weed and be a millionaire but that ain't me :) I just want to live someplace where they won't throw me in jail for years for having a few plants. And also someplace not as fucking hot as texas. Also have some other personal reasons for west coast that I'm not divulging here due to security (not weed related). I'm ready to live someplace mj is celebrated, not persecuted.

I do know, and it seems you do not so much. Only thing you hit on the spot was having resources. Any networking person can achieve that over time.
Get over yourself lol. With your 9 posts, what are you a cop?

I won't even get into the whole you not knowing what an IT was. LOL.

I agree, elbows still go for 32-36 if you have top quality and not like the half assed buds you see in most clubs around the area. Alan sounds like he's talking scare tactics....

Not that it matters, as your asking about IT jobs, but I do know western WA is still up and coming in the technology industry, so it may be your ticket. Although a little more on the conservative side if you are within your limits and don't hustle to the hs kids as alanboy suggests, you won't have any issues. Hope you find a spot you like, as western WA is very different than the east side.

The creme of the crop best buds never see a dispensary ..the harvests are small enough to move to a select few..if you grow better than the rest you can sell top shelf anywhere...don't let this guy steer ya wrong.

Colorado is on the maybe list but their plant/weight limits are too strict. I'm not going to move to a med state that I can't keep in compliance with. That's why it's most likely OR or WA... I can keep under those plant/weight limits no problem, though I like WA's 15 plants better :) I have some reasons to go colorado but other reasons for going west coast that I don't really want to go into here (too many personal details -- wish i could but the whole security thing)

By western WA what cities would you include? I know there's a lot around the Seattle metro area but not too familiar with washington outside that area. I really wanted to take my vacation this year up to see a lot of the west coast to do some scouting but it just didn't work out. I don't mind rain though and I've lived in colder places :)

Like I said, not a commercial grower, but I love growing and I smoke a good bit myself so I grow lots of plants I could definitely see dropping a lb off at a dispensary on occasion for extra cash but I'm not interested in being a dealer or living off of growing. Just wanna grow my plants and be left the fuck alone :)

I heard you can get a real nice plant limit in rado if ya let the doc know you cook and make edibles.

I've not heard anything about the plant limit being flexible. To my knowledge it's still 6 plants. And that's only a defense against prosecution, although it seems like the places they have enforcement police they're good if you're in the limits -- in WA at this point they can't even search without confirming you're growing illegally now :) It's actually legal to possess, not just a prosecution defense.

plant count is meaningless though...everyone is going to be over their limit at all times...a clone or a seedling still counts as a plant.

I am allowed 15, never over my limit so False. Haha! But everything else is fine =)

I'd love to grow 100 and pick and choose too but i'll take 15 over what i'm allowed now legally (0) - 15 would be tight but doable.

Colorado is great and it's still a consideration... unfortunately it isn't on the west coast :)
